Sometimes I'll see floating pink boxes in the background. How do I get them? I'm guessing it has to do with zoom-in, but when I zoom-in nothing happens.

Ah ha... a question I can answer. :) You need to do the speed mode and punch a bunch of enemies... once you're in flames the boxes in the background should break. :)

Didn't you read my impressions? It's very import friendly.

Got my hands on the game finally(Friend got it, I'll still have to wait a couple more weeks =[ ). I'm quite happy with it. The first level is alot longer than it was at E3, the music is forgettable but doesn't hurt the game though the voices are pretty bad. I was happy to see the d-pad supported, so my controller converter will be used for more than just SC2. Beating the crap out of the enemies with air combos in slowmotion and whatnot is such a great feeling. I don't really use speedup too much though.

I didn't try the kid difficulty but the adult difficutly provides some good challenge though you'll eventually find yourself blazing through the levels in Rogue Leader type fashion. One problem, I think it's kinda lame that they reset your slow/fast meter between acts forcing you to build it up again but that's easily forgiveable.

The graphics look great from a distance though they don't look as hot during the closeups in the cinema's and whatnot. Still, the overall presentation is excellent. Blah blah blah. Has anyone unlocked the Viewtiful World preview in the gallery yet?

ZOOM IN IS SOOOOO FUN!

The key to the heli boss is eliminating all the little henchman and then knocking its missiles back in slow mo mode. Since there are no other targets now that the henchmen are dead, the missiles head right for the copter and do massive amounts of damage.

As for the game, a short tidbit from my experience:

Got to the second act and only one thing to say OMG!!! This game is off the heazy fo shizneazzy! It's like they took the best parts of a Genesis beat-em-up and applied the FX juice to it. Old school meets new school in Capcom's second work of pure genius on the GC (P.N.03 was the first).

BRAVO Capcom!!! (never thought I'd say this twice in a year ;))

Thanks, bbobb. Did you know you can toss voomerangs if you hold down punch? You can toss bombs by holding down kick, too. This game feels alot better using a Hori digital pad. With the GC controller, the analog doesn't go well with this type of game (or at least I don't like to use it for precise stuff like this), and the GC d-pad is just too small. Also, the big shoulder buttons on the GC pad will end up hurting your fingers, but on the Hori pad they're just other buttons.
This is definetly one of the coolest games I've ever played. It's the Jet Grind of 2D games.

picked up the game today, really fuckin awesome so far. game is just way to satisfying for its own good. you just hand out the biggest ass beatings ever. most of the enemys are super destructable too, so it just makes the beatings that much more satisfying.

easily the best cel shading i've seen on the GameCube so far (only counting games that are out already. who knows how good the celshading in Killer 7 will turn out).

easily the best beat em up of this generation (Dreamcast games included since that's were most of the competition is). im glad my Game of the Show at E3 this year turned out so good.

anyways, gonna play some more.

Except that it involves no skating, no graffiti, and it's a really good game.

I made it to "Bat-Man" (nice homage) and got my ass kicked. Maybe I should have played on Kids first.

Any help on Bat-Man?
