I missed out on this Sega CD shooter. Is it worth picking up?
I hear it's great. I've been searching for it for a few months now. I always miss 'em on ebay.

I missed a Sega CD shooter? For the life of me I've no idea how I let this one pass by. Ah well, nothing like a near-impossible search to keep you going, it can go after the ever-elusive R-Type Delta on the "Games Trying to Drive Me Mad" list.
I have no idea how I let this by, I thought I had all the Sega CD shooters...

Ooo, I remember poring over screenshots of Android Assault. There was a preview for this game in GamePro and it made me really want a Sega CD (along with Snatcher, because decapitations and boobs are much too much for an elementary school kid).
This game is good, and I had played it after I had mostly "grown out" of the 16-bit shooter (in favor of modern). To me it felt like Air Buster/Aero Blasters mixed with the CD elements of games like Gate of Thunder (the soundtrack is quite similar, for one thing). Nothing exceptional, but well done and it definitely had an appeal for me. Out of the Sega CD shooters I played (Silpheed, Lords, Robo Aleste and this), it was my favorite.
-Forgot Sol-Feace. :yuck:
A store I used to work at had three or four of em. I wanted to pick it up, but dont have a SegaCD to play it on(that didnt stop me from getting Sonic CD though...). Ive seen it a few times at Flea Markets too. I wish I had more money, I could probably do pretty well for myself selling stuff on eBay. But, that would require that I buy the stuff first.
Bought a copy from Melf for a reasonable $10.
Decent game, nothing really stands out about it and the ship's robot mode is a bit big for my taste. Should be fairly cheap. *-neo
I thought this one was okay. The boss and enemy designs can be REALLY cool (like the orange one above), but mostly this game seemed to be a so-so Thunder Force IV wannabe.
BTW, it's funny how this game's title was only changed on the cover - the title screen still has the Japanese title, Bari-Arm. :p
Yes, it's the best Sega CD shooter and an excellent game in its own right. Control is tight and gameplay is crazy. It's like the unshooter in some respects because it rewards you for not shooting by powering up you shot so that when you shoot next you really let off some fireworks.Quote:

Sega needs to make a compilition of all CD and 32X games.. that would save the frustration of missing out on good games.
Of course theres always ebay.. :P
Android Assualt is by far NOT the best shoote on Sega CD. I know, we all have our own opinions, but come on! Android Assualt?
All better than Android Assualt:
Robo Aleste
Silpheed
Soul Star
Lords of Thunder
Most Genesis cart shooters are better than the Sega CD shooters anyway.
:rolleyes:Quote:
