Well, I just picked up Energon Prime. Upon removing the toy from the twisty ties, two things became readily clear:
Despite some truly funky proportions (but not nearly as bad as photos appear), this is a great toy.
There is no way this is a $40 toy.
So yeah... I'm happpy with him but he's overpriced. I got a no-mouth-full-faceplate version by the luck of the draw. :) And speaking of Prime's head, Hasbro is going to hell for making no effort at all to hide either his regular head or super mode head in truck mode. They're just sitting right there (along with his arms).
Some mods are in order when I get home. I'll probably remove the super mode helmet altogether. It doesn't seem to serve much of a purpose, and Prime's regular head is just fine for both modes anyway. And the truck cab is definatly getting painted red. A white Prime cab? Who thought that was a good idea?

The "mouth" version is the original. They're not making them anymore, so any new shipments will be the traditional Prime face plate.
Wal-Mart has the 20th Anniversary Prime and Sideswipe Alternators in stock now (at least the one I shopped at yesterday did).
$64 for the Optimus, and $19 for Sideswipe. I'm officially broke now until next week.
Doubt they'll ever do it, but it would be nice to have a 20th Anniversary edition of Megatron. I suppose if they did they would have to color him purple and give him orange accessories though. Stupid toy-gun laws!
Well that sucks... since I can't afford Prime right now. :(
I'll have to get Swideswipe though.
The paint job is done on my Energon Prime, and the ugly bastard looks a little less ugly now. :) I'll post pictures tomarrow. I didn't think I'd ever like this toy, but....damnit, I love this new Prime.
