Well, I haven't played it :P . Don't own a computer, I web browse on a DC. I can tell you the graphics do look more detailed and sharper from the NES version. And the control should be much better since keyboard commands replace tapping a D-pad. The extras really beat the NES version. A poster/hint sheet, huge manual, and a hint book that can be decoded with a piece of red film included. In case you didn't know, there was a sequel to the game called "Day of the Tentacle" released for Mac and PC(?). *-neoQuote:

And I'm a dumbass. Thanks for the reminder...
Stupid videogames. :(
I should track down my local Goodwill sometime. Living in a big-ass city like Dallas probably means lots of goodies to potentially procure :p
I just live in a crappy area, so taht's why my salvy's suck. Although I still have to check out the new one.
As for Maniac Mansion, you could blow up the hampster in the original PC version, but not later versions (NES, CLassics set, and the version in Day of the Tenticle). Yes, Day was on PC (Lucasarts makes more for PC than Mac, I don't think they have a Mac exclusive title). With the continuing of the Monkey Island series, I'm really surprised there isn't more Manian Mansion games. Still, the original is the best in terms of replay value since it was different depending on which kids you picked.
The Goodwills around my area are okay. Sometimes they do have good stuff (See Sqoon's first post), but lately their games are overpriced and the games they do have aren't worth picking up. There use to be lots of consoles and games, but they have seemed to vanish. I guess Sqoon and I aren't the only ones going to Goodwill to buy games.
My lastest purchase at Goodwill was a complete SNES. The box is messed up, but the stryo is in good shape. Hopefully I can find a complete SMS or Genny. Last time I checked, one of the Goodwills still have complete 3DO games. They are priced at $10 and now they have taped up the boxes so people can't steal the game. Too bad too, the games were in perfect condition until the stupid Mexi's had to ruin them. (I'm not a racist, but Mexican people who work at, well, everywhere and can't speak english are getting me lately.)
I had quite a find once...
Atari 5200 w/ 2 controllers and a big bag 'o games:
Galaxian
Joust
Dig Dug
Kangaroo
Q*bert
Mario Bros.
Defender
Pac-Man
Congo Bongo
Super Breakout
Pengo
Jungle Hunt
Centipede
Pole Position
The system was $16 and the bag of games was $3(!). The controllers don't work, of course, but it's nice to just have it around... The 5200 was the system I grew up with, but my parents gave it away a number of years ago. I'm sure I'll get around to tracking down a working controller someday.
The coolest part was that the bag of games had nearly all of the games' instruction books with them, too!

Almost all of the games were mint, with those promo posters still inside.
I got it all as a package deal, $10.
That was a long time ago though. :)
Recently, I got Strider and Super Street Fighter 2, for JP Megadrive, still shrinkwrapped. Five bucks for the pair.
