I like Tekken.
Bleh, waste of time. Forget Tekken spin-offs. Make an original beat-em up and keep Tekken in the fighting realm. Having Nina as the main character is a waste too. She's by far the worst assassin ever(She's failed in every game, why hire her?). Stuff like this reminds me of X-perts.

Hmm I'll have to see how it will look in pics but it will undoubteldy take influences from Tekken3/4's force modes.
I happen to like Tekken 3, Tag and Tekken 4(the designs are awesome) so I'll probably buy this.
While today I don't like Tekken, I did have some respect for those games when they launched for the PSX. Tekken 3 was quite packed to the brim with cool extras.
But that was then, this is now. There are two 3D fighting games that totally eclipse Tekken in terms of gameplay, Virtua Fighter (duh) and Soul Calibur. I'd also rather play DOA then Tekken... it's cheap as hell, but it can be fun.
So this news of a Tekken spin off is pretty underwhelming. I'd love to see an action-adventure game with some of the Soul Calibur 2 characters. That (to me) would have some potential.
I recently bought 4 at GH and it kind of looks better wth the red stripe it sort of complements it. Anyway I did think the artwork and design were awesome as I said before. Seems Sega really dug them too with the Brad Burns/Steve Fox outfits and Goh/Jin. Nina looks alot like Sarah in her pink suit though.Quote:

Tekken Tag and 3 can still be fun for stupid button mashing fun when you don't really want to get that serious into it.
One thing I will totally give Tekken props for is it's presentation (as mentioned already). The quality on the FMV is great, and I find most of their characters far more interesting than almost all the VF characters (Lion, please die. Thanks).
And I think a rehaul of the series can yield a fun fighting game, so when they enevitably annouce Tekken 5, I'll hope for the best.
actually, i don't know if you remember this, but we talked on the phone about... a year and a half to 2 years ago. and i clearly remember you saying that you didn't think much of DoA3, but thought DoA2 was great. i found that to be very hilarious so i never forgot it. although it wouldn't be as funny as you trying to deny that ever happening.Quote:

TOKYO--According to the latest Famitsu magazine, Namco will release an action adventure game, titled Nina, for PlayStation 2 gamers. The game is based on Nina Williams from the 3D fighting game series Tekken.
Nina is currently 30 percent complete and is scheduled for release sometime next year. Italian artist Roberto Ferrari, formerly of the Tatsunoko Productions anime studio, will be creating character designs for the game.
Nina's backstory centers on an secret organization, called the Camietta. The Camietta wields a powerful weapon named "the Salacia," and it is feared as a terrorist threat. The game takes place on a luxury cruise boat, where the executives of the Camietta organization have gathered in anticipation of an underground fighting tournament. To investigate the organization, Nina Williams enters the tournament, and, after becoming its champion, is soon discovered as a spy.
The game begins when Nina receives a communiqué from her colleagues that lets her know that they have failed in their mission. She, therefore, must rise up and complete the mission herself.
The player becomes Nina and must search the boat for information necessary for completing the mission. The left analog stick is used for walking, while the right analog stick is used for attacking opponents by moving it in their direction. A number of other moves, like guarding and running, can be executed by using different combinations of the two sticks and changing the timing necessary for hitting them.
Nina uses her fighting skills from the Tekken series in hand-to-hand combat, and she also has the ability to use a number of weapons found in the game, including guns and swords. Nina can even wield two guns or two swords at once. By building up Nina's power meter, players can execute a special attack that offers an X-ray view of the opponent's body as its internal organs are damaged by Nina's powerful strike. This blast attack can be used to wipe out a crowd of enemies just as a bomb decimates multiple enemies in a shooter game.
Nina can also try to avoid enemies through stealth. She can hide behind walls and columns on her way around the boat. There are a variety of traps on the boat that Nina must be cautious of as well.
In connection with the Tekken series, a laboratory belonging to Dr. Boskonovitch is confirmed to be in the game. Nina's sister, Anna, is also hinted to be in the game.

Yeah, I remember us talking (most clearly you discussing your initial reaction to GunValk) and I said DOA (as in the first one) was great. Right from the first time I played DOA3 I preferred it over 2 because of the changed reversal damage levels, so I can't think of any point in time when I would've said the opposite to anyone.Quote:
