Why would anybody buy a sports game to see if it makes them blackout? That's not "marketing" of any kind. While I doubt the validity of all this, I doubt Sega or VC are behind it as it wouldn't reflect well on them or their products in any way. I mean, sports games aren't Perfect Dark, ya know? Remember all the web stuff Rare did for that game? That was good marketing: it actually had something to do with the game and instilled intrigue and not fear.
