Review: Boktai: The Sun Is In Your Hand
Our newest editor, Mark Ryan, takes Konami's latest GBA adventure to the great outdoors, with startling results. Straight from the mind of Hideo Kojima comes a game that is not only fun, but will let you get a very nice tan at the same time. If you're one of those sun-fearing people, it would be wise to stay far, far away from this game, but if you don't mind catching rays while you play your GBA outdoors, knock yourself out.
If Boktai accomplishes just one thing, it succeeds in forcing cave-dwelling, sunlight-fearing geeks into the great outdoors, into a world of fresh air and swarms of girls. Perhaps it’s just my own dead-sexiness at work, but there’s something noticeably attractive to strangers about a geek standing in a ray of sunlight. I’ll angle my Game Boy to get Boktai’s built-in light sensor to capture the most sun, and pause a moment to look up, square my shoulders, and catch the eye of a female as she, forced by eons of woman instinct, parts her lips to ask, "What’s that?"
