Jeez!! No accidents, no tickets, no nothing but my insurance is so damn high. I have Progressive and my payments are $312 a month. I have my parents pay half (they didn't buy me my first car so they figured they would help with the insurance). I guess because im 19 and drive a fairly new vehicle. I hate insurance!!
It doesn't get better anytime soon. You've got like 6 years to go. I'm 22 and I still pay $224 a month and I drive a friggin' bluish-green Mazda Protege from almost a decade ago. I've had no accidents and only 1 ticket when I was 17. Insurance is ridiculous. Another way the common man gets the shaft.Quote:

the stupid excuses they make to charge you more get rediculous. a brief list of the ones i've heard:
-coupes
-turbos (regardless of NA engines that have = power)
-4 wheel drive (wtf this is safer!)
-"premium" brands (2 cars with the same "value", an Acura will cost more to insure than a similiar Honda)
-if your car is red
-how hot your sister is
-what you ate for breakfast

Im 25, married, and have 2 kids...
I insure 3 cars.. 2 of which are considered luxery and my monthly is like $160.00 and thats the best coverage available.
I have Geico btw...
That's why I drove a motorcycle when I was young. Insurance was $400 a year. Plus, I got like 55 miles to the gallon.
I just turned 25, and have never had a ticket or accident, so, I think it's about time I buy a car.
...and maybe some health insurance. Damn.
edit: JMET, is that so? Hmm...not the noblest of reasons to tie the knot, but I'll bring that up next time I see my woman. ;)
Some of those could have something to do with those types of vehicled being highly susceptible to theft though.

Not the reason but a perk..
I have had 1 accident which was fully the other oguys fault.. he rear ended me when I had been sitting still for like 30 seconds..
My cars have some anti theft features..
Once you hit 25, your insurance will drop. The longer you have your license and the longer its clean..the lower your insurance will drop also. Its better to be put under your parents insurance and dont have a car under your name, but under your parents (female preferred).
If you want to drop the insurance..get the VIN number etched into the window (police department should do it), and get a alarm/anti-theft system.
How does that help? Is having it bolted to your dash and marked on the inside of your door not enough?Quote:
