Uhh... iTunes destroys Winamp man. Like I said in the thread I was using Winamp for 7 or 8 years (back when the mp3 thing was still catching on and I Downloaded the files from SimpleNet) but it took me 2 days to realize iTunes is better, its not my permanent player.
Like I posted in that thread, learning and ripping was the smoothest, easiest thing in the world. Like four clicks for everything. Without iTunes... lets see I need a seperate program to rip (or a plug-in I have to mess with in Winamp) and then yet another program to burn... and even though it may be slight there is still a learning curve to all three of the programs. Sure some may appreciate the flexibility but I would rather do it all from one program.
I spent a lot of time fiddling with my friend's Mac this summer, and I think its awesome. Much better than Windows.
I used iPhoto, and it was awesome. It took about 10 seconds to learn to use and it did everything perfectly and its all smooth and logical. The interface for grabbing your pictures from Windows XP is about as elegant and intuitive as a shoebox. And yea, yea, you get used to it, and it works okay I guess.
And I was at the campus store and spent about 5 seconds learning to use an iPod, and it utterly shits all over every single mp3 player I have seen in my life. My friend has an iRiver, and navigating the menus is a pain in the ass. When I started using it, I was pressing buttons that would take me here and there, it wasn't navigating right, it totally sucked. Sure, sure, after a little while I got used to it but there's a HUGE difference the iPod which screams usability-is-king! and the iRiver which says... kinda-okay-it-works-alright-could-be-better-but-Ill-deal-with-it-because-thats-how-computers-are .
Whenever Im using Apple products I feel like somebody actually sat down and said "okay, how are users gonna be using this?" and design accordingly, and it ends up being very smooth and consistent and logical. Windows, I imagine a bunch of geeks getting together and designing a solution that works, but just okay, and only after you are used to it and fiddle with it a bit.
That's just my take on it, though... Im definitely not saying everyone should own a Mac or think its cool like I do but a lot of people's opinions of the whole Apple side of things is really really out there, especially on things like price.
