I think it's a little bit of overkill, but you gotta have control for everything.

Materials even with a keyboard encoder isn't anymore than $100.00

here is my CP for my cab I built (needs to be t-molded yet) cost me less than $75 for sticks, buttons, wires, encoder (I-PAC) and laminet board.

Of course Videodrone, if you buy this, you don't need to spend time building it... some people don't like to build stuff, you know?
