Eh, they should remake more games I don't hate first.
Hmmm! Why am I not surprised to know that this was coming? Could it be because Enix is always remaking a previous Dragon Warrior after releasing a new one? :p
DW5 led to DW1+2 on the Sufami.
DW6 led to DW3 Reprise.
DW7 led to a remake of DW4 on PS1 (not to mention the first three games on GBC).
Now where's the GBA port of DW4? :p
Wow, that engine looks like it could do wonders for them. If DQ6 comes out in the same manner, that could be incredible. The first thing they really need to fix for 5 is the walking speed and they could have a winner.
Haha? Most people that have finished the game say it's the single DQ that has the best story. What didn't you like about it?Quote:

Awesome. This is using the DQ8 engine, correct? I'm crossing my fingers that Level 5 doesn't skip out on Squenix before a US localization is finished.
Not gonna happen, unless Squenix does a classic Dragon Quest compilation down the road. I'm sure you've heard the story about PS1 DQ4, but just in case you didn't:Quote:

Unfortunately, Heartbeat and Enix Japan had a falling out about 2/3 into the DQ4 localization, and they severed ties and left, taking all the rights to the engine with them. The project had to be cancelled for obvious reasons.
I definitely would have bought the PS1 DW4, but due to the absolute horror that is the DW7 engine, I'm relieved that I don't have to play through another game using it.
My guess would be everything, since it's a Dragon Quest game. Some people just can't get into the series. Whatever, it doesn't ruin our enjoyment of it.Quote:

Judging from that screenshot, I'd say no. Obviously that screen is small as hell, but it looks that way to me. Then again, making an all new engine just for the remake would be a bit odd when they have such a great one (with 8) to work off already. Either way, color me excited for this one.Quote:

What you call lame is what I call efficient. *shrugs* Sorry it's not "fun".Quote:

Yeah, I guess I was a little too hasty in dismissing the idea. After all, the first 3 games received handheld ports 7 and 5 years (respectively) after the SFC remakes were done. It's a possibility on GBA, I guess.Quote:

whenever i think of DWVII i get vaguely ill.
i liked what i played of V back in the day, though, and VIII looks nice, so i'll give both of them a shot.
I get kind of melancholy at the thought of a remake of V happening in Japan for a next gen console, when we never got the original localized over here and may not get the remake either :(
Looks interesting that their converting the 2D DQV Super Fami to 3/4 view 3D for PS2, definitely looking good, tho, and should be an interesting play. :)
....i hope the remake of 6 ends up on the 8 engine. that would be nice. damn these epic ass games. so many hours...
I really tried to like DQ6. It had so much going for it, but like... yeah.
oooh! so it's all 3D? looks nice!
things have changed significantly since 1991. i think we have a great chance.Quote:

and, especially as they're trying to rebuild this brand in the US, and DWVII did pretty well. i mean, you can say it did shitty compared to japan (duh) but it did really well for an awful-looking, archaic RPG really late in the PS1's lifespan.
The JP release is getting closer.
New screens - Polygon
More screens - GamesAreFun
Yet more screens - RPGamer
And for dessert:
Preview movie (WMV format, 3.8MB)
:_) It's so silky-smooth compared to 7. I'm going to go apeshit if Squenix doesn't release it outside of Japan.
Um, DQ5 was the first to introduce the job system in the series. Though many spells were far too abuseable like defeat etc.Quote:

Indeed! I can just see a stunning version using then Slime Morimori tile sets. Tose Software needs to get on it. :)Quote:
