As a kid, I thoroughly enjoyed Halloween year after year. Here in the office, I keep hearing how people don't celebrate Halloween because it's connected to the devil and some other bullshit. That pisses me off. Poor kids.
Anyone here been deprived of Halloween?
I was deprived of halloween up until I was 10 or so (And even then, it wasn't "traditional" halloween)... Though not because of religious beliefs, just because my patents were/are hippies, and didn't celebrate anything (not even birthdays).
Nope, but my girlfriend is telling me she thinks her Mum is trying to trick her into going to church to do 'Christian' Halloween stuff. :wtf:
Bah. I don't care how the holliday started, there is absolutly nothing religious/anit-religious about Halloween as it stands today. It's just kids having fun. I love the holliday. We go all-out decorating the house and putting on an act for the kids who come to the door insead of just giving them candy and sending them on their way.
I usually go to church on Halloween and help with the kids, they get to play games and probably end up with more candy anyway but I can see what everyone is saying.
Im a Christian and think Halloween is fine. Just as long as no one is drinking blood and hailing Beelzebub or nothin, Im just fine.
Chances are that kids who are deprived of Halloween due to extreme Christianity are deprived of a lot else.
I'd love to smack a parent that doesn't allow their kid to celebrate Halloween. It's one of the most magical holidays for a kid growing up.
I'm Christian and see nothing wrong with Halloween, I don't see the defense of the parents that do this.
