Anyway, I'm sad that I've been so busy lately, I haven't had time to do much. I wanted a cool costume like the Pyramidhead one I made last year, but I'm running out of time. Kind of depressing... it's one of my favorite holidays. But the schoolwork doesn't do itself, heh. A lot of kids from here are going to Salem, but I don't know if I want to fight the tourism mob.

Halloween used to be so much fun when I was a little kid... I feel like PCness and puritanistic parents are killing it off, not to mention sickos. When I was a little kid I never had to worry about poisoned candy or razorblades in it... was the threat always so prevalent, or did my parents just conceal their searching well? I can't remember it being so unsafe. Everyone in the neighborhood got in on the act, too. Huge, elaborate Halloween decorations and setups in people's houses, garages, haunted houses, pranks to scare the trick or treaters... It's been dead for years. Some people even urge to trick or treat before it's dark.

Is it me, or are today's kids getting the shaft?

Oh, it's not you. The people you mentioned are, indeed, killing it off.

I have always loved Halloween as a kid or even today. My parents always heavily encouraged my going out and getting candy with my friends and we always pretty fun to go with.

One fond memory I have of Halloween was when I was 8 or so and I went with my dad and my friend's dad. After we came back from our candy round up we got back to my friend's house where his mother and a neighbor had been drinking vodka all night and jumping out of bushes and scaring kids. That was entertaining.

This year I plan on doing a quasi-Clockwork Orange costume and going to a party. By quasi I mean, I couldn't find white pants or a bowler. So I'm going with black pants and no hat. It's not like anyone is gonna notice anyway.

Of course, if worst comes to worst I can always just sit in my room, eat candy and watch my horror DVDs.
