I seriously need to see Bowling for Columbine.
I actually know someone who got a razor blade in her candy as a kid, but that was while she was in Tennessee, so shit like that should be expected. ;) However, she's also been in numerous car crashes (not driving) and has had many concussions, so maybe that's a luck thing.
Still, kids can't be in a bubble all their life. Kids that move out of momma's house without any life experience are the ones that O.D. on coke a year later.
Oh my God that guy is a furry.
Huh. Well, if that's the case, I'm not really sure why the guy would have posted that there... sort of foolish on his part. But still, I don't like the fact that the whole thing happened... eh, whatever. Laundry time!Quote:

So it seems I was wrong, TWO men have entered into heaven by means other than death.
To qualify, however, I firmly believe that in both cases, Enoch and Elijah ceased to be flesh and blood at the time they were taken from this earth. No man has entered into heaven, true, but both of them ceased to be what we would define as man in an instant of time.
Sorry, i will do it for you(goes into dennis leary voice) I'm an asshole.Quote:

I do it because it's funny.
Unfortunatly, knowing where you are coming from, I do go on the defensive pretty fast, but on the same token, after you made the comment that kids who werent allowed to trick or treat were being deprived, and you explained that as meaning that they were being denied proper medical care(I assume you were referring to a few high profile cases of christian scientists, who by no means represent a majority, or even a sizeable fraction of the overall christian populice.) or that they were beign deprived becasue they were taken out of public school sex education classes, i really was feeling a lot less than respect, more like being crudely steriotyped in the most negative manner possible. And, in regards to the quote that i actually went after you for, im sorry, but it came as a snipe, the guy was saying that he had experienced things better than a silly holiday of tooth decay, and you had to try to contradict him right away, again, i fail to see the respect. I am sorry if i come off as always antagonistic,as i dont have anything personal against you, but this thread was a giant clusterfuck on people who dont follow the accepted mainstream, and that was bullshit for a group of videogamers, we do what we want and dont ask others for their opinion, so why are we so quick to force our opinion on others who are doing the same, and afx..as always, didnt help matters any, good show mods for censoring mzo for an obviously light hearted comment that didnt seem mean spirited at all, but letting afx get away with anything. so i apologize for a harsh tone, but i really saw nothing respectful about that question at all.Quote:

I have no problems with the Catholic catechism (except for a single, soletary particular, but here is not the place. If you'd like more info, please PM me), of which I've read in it's entirety. I love the Catholic devotion, I love the fact that they believe that the sacrament of the Euchrist is transubstantiated into the actual Body and Blood of Christ Jesus, and I love the rest of your version of our faith. Pope John Paul is a great man, and when he eventually dies, the world will most certainly be at a loss.
Please, I wasn't at all hating on Catholics. I was simply questioning the motives of a young, inexperienced church. I could do this of all denominations, but none would be so important as the Catholic Church, as it is this very church that defined the whole of Christianity.
And about the Mary doctrine, man, I really don't have that big of a problem with it. Mary is the Mother of God. She's due the respect and admiration that the Catholic Church gives her. The angel who visits her even tells her that she will be blessed and held in glory for all generations. I was simply showing how pagan ties can be drawn to the Catholic Mary doctrine, and to be extremely frank, I believe that the transition happened in the opposite. Mary is the Queen of Heaven. She is spoken about as such in the book of Revelation. Pagan relegions were influenced by this and adopted the belief, twisting it to fit their belief style.
If you'd like to talk about this further, I'm definitly open to discussion.
Oh. Well, you sure picked some horribly extreme examples, in light of the current subject matter. :pQuote:

And to all the people who think there is nothing wrong with celebrating a holiday even though it came from pagan rituals, remember that God punished the Israelites whenever they got involved with pagan rituals, even though they claimed they were doing "in the name of God."
Also, concerning the holiday matter:
So let no one judge you in food or in drink, or regarding a festival or a new moon or sabbaths, NKJV Col 2:16
Straight from the horse's mouth.
I look at the Bible the same way I look at Aesop's fables: It's a bunch of stories that have some great morals, but shouldn't be taken as gospel if you know what I mean.
I find a lot of religion to be silly and often has way too much effort put into the wrong areas. Because of this, I don't deal with believing in anything besides morals and ideals. It's simple, not bogged down by too much needless baggage, and has the added bonus of not causing wars. If you want to believe in a God or some such go right ahead, doesn't bother me in the slightest. I just feel things like worship and debating the who/what/where/when/why of a God is wasting energy from the whole point of most major religions in the first place.
veggie, my comment to you was intended to be kind of like a joking, fake anger, no real hostility, I was coming in to back you up, so dont worry.

SZ really has a low tolerance level and i understand why that is too.
Frostwolf: I don't think I've shown any respect or any lack of respect. It seemed to me that someone posited that his Christian salvation is superior to a holiday about tooth decay, and I was not questioning that. I was merely wondering why he believes his faith and the holiday are in conflict.
As for the comparison I made, sure, my examples were extreme, but the point I was derailing was that a parent's faith doesn't make all their parental decisions right.
Personal attacks aren't allowed. If I moderated one that was meant in jest, I apologize. Criticism of your faith isn't a personal attack until the Lord your God registers for TNL Forums.
Veggie: No offense taken. The judgment comment wasn't addressed at you.
Otherwise, systemic internet hostility is freaking pathetic. No offense to anyone in particular.
