Leatherman

I got a care package from my dad yesterday, and in it was a Leatherman Wave multi-tool. When I first looked at it, I was like, why the fuck did my dad get me this crap?

But then I started to check it out. HOLY FUCK THIS IS THE GREATEST INVENTION OF ALL TIME.

He got me the Wave, which is supposedly the top of the line one. It has:

Needlenose pliers
Regular pliers
Wire cutters
hard-wire cutters
clip point knife
serrated knife
diamond coated file
cross-cut file
wood saw
extra small screwdriver
small screwdriver
medium screwdriver
large screwdriver
phillips head screwdriver
can/bottle opener
wire stripper
lanyard attachment
scissors

This thing just fucking rocks. It makes me want to go into the woods and kill a bear, then skin it, cut some wood for a fire, then cook the meat. And this would be the ONLY tool I would need for all that. It just fucking rules.

Who else has one of these?

Well I suppose it's better late than never that you discover their minor deity status.

Not long after my birthday, I got a care package from my folks with a GBASP in it. Now, I thought that was pretty badass, but dammit, you win. I want a Leatherman like that. The Swiss Army Knife I have doesn't cut it. Wirecutters are a must for me... the knife I have wasn't up to the task of clipping guitar strings... or cutting paper... or anything. Sad.

If I had one of those I'd get to taking over the world, pronto.

Not quite as good, but it's got most of the electrician tools.

Knives are awesome. I use mine all the time; just a plain-jane Swiss Army with a few blades and such. The Leatherman you got looks nifty as anything, and I can agree that you could probably survive for the rest of your life with that and a little twine. Something that I found really helpful is using one of those little metal chains (usually used for pull-strings for fans) and connecting finger nail clippers to the knife. I always lose the dang things otherwise.

I asked for one for my birthday.

That tool rules all other tools.

Also asked for a Dremmel... If I get both it'll be the best birthday EVAR.

Yeah, no shit. This is going on my Christmas list, where a Dremel is waiting and hoping. If I had both of those, I'd be able to take on the world.

Oh yeah...

I love these things, one of my side jobs is i help my mother build and merchandise card displayers(amercian greetings) those things are a toolbox in themselves, if they had a hammer, they would be the only tool you ever needed.

I've got a smaller version leatherman, those things are great. I don't really use it that much but it's comforting to know that if I ever need to do a few hundred different things all in one go I'm ready for it.

I had never heard of the Leatherman until someone mentioned that they were looking for it when I worked at the Naval Exhchange. It must be pretty cool if people ask for it by name.

Well today my Leatherman got its first real workout (I tightened the screws on a light faceplate a few days ago but that doesnt count). I came back from the gym and I wanted to mix up one of those protein shakes so I can get jacked. But there is no blender here, nor is there any shakers. And there are no thermoses or anything I can put it in. yes its ghetto.

But I did see a large (1L) empty thing of bottled water... but you know that wont work right because I cant pour it in right? WRONG. I just cut the top of it off and mixed that shit right in there. It cut through the plastic like butta. So when I get diesel I have my Leatherman to thank.

Its like that episode of The Simpsons, when Dr. Hibbard did the emergency appendix operation, and when the guy thanked him, he said... "dont thank me... thank THE KNIFE".

Leatherman > Everything.

Been using them for years, greatest single tool ever..

The only problem was the original Leatherman's screwdrivers didnt lock, so it was had to do anything that required pressure, and the way the pliers were setup, the handles dug into your hand while using them.

But they fixed all the stuff with the wave.

Heck the even make a socket set for the sucker..
