Nope. Blocking is done automatically. If you character is not blocking you need to raise his shield skill.Quote:

station82o - Since I did the main quest all in pieces mixed up with many side quests, I'm not sure, but it felt relatively short. I'd say ten hours without shortcuts, but I took some shortcuts so probably was only about eight or so for me.
APC - The guide is $20 US retail price, but I think it's worth it since it covers everything in the game and is surprisingly well-written. I'm glad I was pretty far into the game before buying it to avoid spoilers though.
Oh, and it's possible to manually raise enchantment. One way is to use a lot of enchanted objects, but this is really slow. The better way is so make cheap magical objects yourself by capturing the souls of wandering monsters and such. Raises much in the same way alchemy does. Its still pretty slow though.
Didn't play Morrowind much at all today, but everyone needs a break once and a while. :)
Heres some stuff I've been dealing with in Morrowind that I could use some advice/tips on:
1.) Firstly, I realize that as of now my character (lvl 3 Nord) is not strong enough to engage in combat with other human characters and survive if my opponent has a weapon on his person. Its just not possible for some reason - I move and dogde and restore health as quick as I can but no fucking dice! I have been able to kill a couple people before - but that was because they did not have any weapons on them while fighting me.
2.) Well - in relation to problem #1 - a big problem I'm having is that most of the quests I am getting are requiring me to actually go out, track down certain people and kill them - this is a problem because as I explained above - I can't kill anybody!!!!
For instance, I recieved a quest from this jackass in Fort Moonmoth to go and kill 5 members of the Cammona Tong - well, shit...they're all located in the same building (some pub in Balmora) and I can see no possible way I could kill them all. There isn't even a way that I could lure all them out one by one. Its suicide!
Another problem quest was the quest from the fighters guild to kill those two egg thieves hidden in the egg mine. Near impossible for me.
3.)Also, is it possible to get horses or any other form of transportation rather that the Silt Strider? I mean transportation that you can take to just roam free in the wilderness? Running around takes a long ass time and often makes me take shortcuts which usually lead to fucking trouble with unexpected animals.
4.)The last thing is more opinionated - we've talked about the fear factor element involved in Morrowind. I've been creeped out just walking from Balmora to Pelegriad in the middle of the night!
But what is more unnerving is when I dare myself to enter some tomb or cave. Is it just me, or do the rest of you guys feel like you have to force yourself to press on further in said tombs/caves? The worst shit is when you enter a cave and immediatley see some guy coming at you - then you've gotta get the hell out of there immediatly - well at least I do....
as a postscript to that post, last night I decided to leave Balmora and just give the finger to all the quests that have originated from that region. Now I'm just gonna go travel for awhile and do things somewhere else. Balmora is waayy to dreary of a town.
BTW - is there any other way to pick up on the main quest instead of going to that Cauis Cossades guy in Balmora - his quests aren't doing me any favors right now. Maybe I just need more levels up.
Well if you read my earlier post (sorry about the long paragraph, I was at work and wanted to type it as fast as possible) you'll see it deals with the same quests your on. There aren't any spoilers when you read it, and you can kind of take it as a guide since I was in the same situation as you. Another thing I did is just explored the country side killing everything I saw. Out of curiousity what weapon is in your major class and what weapon are you using. I know that I chose long blade and use long blade whereas my friend chose short blade and uses long blade and the difference in difficulty is dramatic. So make sure you use weapons that suit your ability or else you won't level up fast. After a good day of bug hunting you should have no problems leveling up your weapon skills.
One thing that would have been cool is if you can practise your weapons skills on those dummies they have in the certain fighters guild... too bad it doesn't.
D
My character is a:
Level 3 Nord(?) Male
I customized the class - so he's a "Adventurer" with specialization in Stealh - which I'm getting quite good at...doesn't help with fighting though. His weaponry specialization major skill is Long Blade - which I am using quite frequently now.
Thanks for the adivce, I'll try just that - I have to admit I really havent' spent a good day (in the game) on that activity alone. I think I'm just to eager to quickly.
BTW - that city of VIVIC is fucking lame - the most boring place in the game - and confusing too!!!
I'd have to agree, although I think it's cause I get lost. Oh and also because the guards attack me for wearing the sacred helmet. Needless to say I try and stay away from there.

He doesn't mean for you to go kill em all now. Take your time and finish the quest whenever you feel ready. You can also join the Thieves Guild for some help. They hate the Cammona Tong.Quote:

Quick question: What is the maximum attribute multiplier, and how much skill levelling within that attribute is required to achieve it?
I'm having a hard time putting this into words, so if you need further explanation, ask me. It's kinda confusing.Quote:

x5 is the maximum multiplier, and to get it you need all ten of your skills that contributed to the level up to be reliant on the same attribute (or just level up one skill ten times). And only major and minor skills can give you multipliers over x2. What happens is that it takes one half of whatever attributes whose skills you levelled up and makes that your multiplier. So if you level up security 6 times and long blade four times for your level up, you'll get a x3 (half of the 6 for security) for intelligence and x2 for strength (half of the 4 for long blade). To max your stats, what you want to do is raise one skill (or only skills that share one attribute) to ten, so you get a x5 multiplier for that attribute, and then raise two different miscellanous skills (by 4, I think, for the x2). Then you'll get x5 to one stat and x2 to two others. I think you can only get three multipliers.
One of the general FAQs on GameFAQs (the second one, I think) does a MUCH better job of explaining this, but even the guy who wrote is isn't totally positive about the way it works.
