K, here are some pictures of my Monk/Assassin Systaltic Quienscence. They're just pictures of the world map. The only city I've been to so far is the one they start you off in. Guess I should go to a city soon and try to find out where the Assassin's guild is.

im very suprised at how this game runs on my system. got an XP 2100, 512M DDR Ram, Soyo Drago mobo and a Gforce 3. running in 1024*768 and its so CHOPPY!? WTF!? great music tho.
Gongos: Edit morrowind.ini and look for the screenshot line. Change the 0 to 1. After this, pressing PrintScreen will dump a BMP into the main folder.
Schlong: Sucks, doesn't it? I'm praying for a performance increasing patch at some point. Not too hopeful though. In the meantime, try *increasing* your resolution (if your monitor supports it). Many people (myself included) get the exact same performance in 640x480 and 1600x1200 -- a sign the game is CPU-limited.

Unofficial patch, and of course, backup any files that are replaced. This removes the safedisc checking. Still requires the morrowind CD in the drive, but does not access it every 3 or so minutes. For me, it has created a noticable difference. You'll need winrar, or winace, one or the other....and another thing.

Finally, I have some more tips on increasing your Morrowind performance. This requires some changes to the Morrowind.ini file, so you should back it up. I am not sure if it increases performance on all machines, but it's worth a try. All you have to do is locate the settings in Morrowind.ini and change them to the following:

Also, if you want more shadows cast by NPCs and creatures, altering the following lets you do it:
Number of Shadows=32
Maximum Shadows Per Object=4
This will reduce the performance, but it gives a great effect.
The waiting is starting to get to me... I'm thinking of getting the PC version just to have the editor to monkey around with and then also getting the Xbox version to play through the main quest on. Need to dig deeper in my pile of shame to resist temptation. :sweat:
If you have (or will have) the horsepower to run it, go with the PC version. The only thing the Xbox game will have going for it is the ability to play from your couch. Otherwise, mostly inferior.
Ah, if only my computer couldn't run it, I wouldn't be stuck with this sort of delemna. The thing is, I dislike playing games using kb/mouse and sitting at the computer. Rather have it on the TV, but man does the construction set sound like boat loads of fun...

I wonder if there is even a system out there that could handle Morrowind flawlessly? Wouldn't a powered up system with a G4force4 do the trick? How much RAM should one have. (I'm buying a new system next month and want to get it right!)

It will be a while before there is a PC that can run the towns without dropping below 30 fps... let alone 60. The engine seems like a real dog in some ways.
Still... I'm anxious to see how it will run on the new 533-mhz FSB P4 systems we're getting at work soon. (It's pretty crappy on this P4 1.6 / 512 MB / GeForce 3 Ti200 system.)
The XBOX version will have DD 5.1, the PC version won't. Thats a HUGE deal in my book.
