i read about the gp32 a while back. Doesn't impress me at all.
I think it will fail.
Oh no! Something new and different. It must suck!Quote:

Honestly that RF multiplayer adapter is an awesome idea, given it works properly. I'd love to see such a thing for the GBA - no wires necessary!

This portable looks so dang cool, but I haven't heard a thing yet about the games. The screens look amazing, but has anybody played them yet? Are they good? I really want one, but that's just too much to spend on a guess.
IGN had a write up on 4 of the games, and they all came thru pretty lackluster if I remember correctly.Quote:

From what I've read about it, I don't think any of the games look good enough to warrant a purchase.
which screens?Quote:

I've been eyeing the GP32 since its inception, and I think I'm gonna have to take the plunge when I get paid in 2 weeks.
I just can't hold off any longer.
+ you can get one for not too much if you don't mind the eBay routine...
Don't forget it's a portable MP3 player as well as a game system...
Hey Kev, I wasn't talking about the RF adapter, which I think is a great idea.Quote:

I'm talking about the portable system itself. Do you think it will be successful with the games? Will it get any 3rd party support?
I think in due time, the GBA will also have one of these suckers.
Games make a system.
I don't plan on ever buying a GP32.
Yeah the hardware is really nice, the screen is twice the size of GBA's. Not only that, it's CPU is 66MHZ compared to 16MHZ, it contains 8MBs of SDRAM compared to 256KB or WRAM, displays far more colours, pumps out richer sound, and the media is larger and cheaper. And all of that runs for 12 hours on two AA batteries.
It also has a built-in text and MP3 reader, and people are working on DivX players and the like. Development is very open and there's a great little scene forming. I think we can expect SNES and Genesis emulators in the future, perhaps even Neo Geo.
The only real downfall is support, Capcom and SNK are onboard, but that's basically it when it comes to 'real' developers. Hopefully we'll see some proper support in time.
Well it's getting Mega Man X3, Street Fighter Alpha 3, and Breath of Fire 3. Not bad.
thats a great start with those two.Quote:

Rock Man X5 actually, and King of Fighters has been announced as well. Another thing I failed to mention, there's going to be an online element involved. You'll be able to write emails, browse the web and play multiplayer games via cellphone.

Someone's already developed a Bluetooth-based wireless device for the Gameboy Advance, it just needs to get adopted by developers.
Bluetooth means it's standard, and compaitble with many things.
I've read up on the GP32 in Stuff magazine (that's the UK "Stuff" for technophiles, not the US "Stuff" for undersexed teens). It included all of the info you guys have mentioned. And to be honest, I hope it does well. Not "dethrone GBA" well, that's just asking for to much, but well enough that it doesn't become another NGPC.
You can already import it if you know where to look, from what I've read. I haven't come across anywhere that sells it, but if I did, and the price was right, I would definatly consider it.

Go there and look for one.
I've played with one of those things before, it's pretty cool.
If GP32 puts out a consistent stream of Software I'd be very interested in picking one up. All for Princess looks like a decent side srcoll beat em up and there's a Worms style game with Rally Cars that looks good.
Now, show me a shooter on this system :) *-neo
A shooter? http://www.lik-sang.com/catalog/prod...ducts_id=1734&
How's that workin' out for ya'? :)

GP32 is a great piece of hardware, technically far superior to the GBA in every possible way. All it needs is support.
So no one on this board owns a GP32 to give us first hand impressions?
no fucking kidding.Quote:

I read this article a while back so I know the specs of the hardware. Why I think it'll be a failure? 3rd party support.
I was asking Chibi Nappa which screens looked impressive, ya dummy :)Quote:

Well, Phoenix Angel Wing...thanks! And the price is as close to "right" as it'll ever be, I suppose. So, that said, I'll give you guys first hand impressions as soon as I get it in the mail. :D
By the by, is Lik-Sang able to be trusted? Will they ship my product hassle free?
Lik-Sang is one of the best online retailers out there. I've done business with them several times, and have nothing but great things to say about them.
Well then, thank you very much. You've been very helpful. :)Quote:

To be honest I'm 99% sure it'll be a failure too. But it's a crying shame. The games released thus far aren't super impressive, but the system is more powerful than a Neo-Geo, and it uses the (potentially huge and cheap) solid state Smartmedia. This means that games of Metal Slug 3 calibre are totally possible. They just to get the right developers onboard making exclusive content. Maybe one of these little Korean dev houses will surprise us.
Phoenix, you bastard :) . I will have to own one of these now. Damn, that looks like the art style of the Metal Slug or In the Hunt team.Quote:

Hello Lik-Sang....*-neo
the ngpc has an rf multiplayer adapter, supposedly links 64 players at one time. never came out over here due to some fcc problem. not like it mattered, how many people would actually play Dive Alert ?
