Tech Romancer, Do people even like this game?

This to me is one game that seems to have been slid out of a lot of peoples mind for unknown reasons. I did not sell very well, and got semi good reveiws, but this game is just fantastic. I think Capcom really went above and beyond with this game. There is so much to unlock in this game its crazy. It just seems odd to me that this game is not talked about all that much. The reveiws panned it as not deep at all, but if you play it a lot you can see that its not really all that shallow. Each character has tons of moves, sure they are real easy to perform, but its how you use them that counts. You can set up all sorts of traps for the other player, its just so cool. Not to mention the single player aspect of the game. With all the stuff to unlock. 3 VMU Mini games, 5 hidden characters, Puzzles, tons of information on all the characters, and lots more. Plus each character has a cool story line. I am suprised that more people don't play it, maybe there is a lot of people who play it, but just don't talk about it. If you have not played it, you need to. Its got really nice clean graphics, a clean fighting engine, and some of the coolest characters in a fighter ever. The mechs are just so damn cool! Plus if your a Cyberbots fan you will be happy to know that Jin with his Bloodia II is a hidden character. Buy this game.

I love me some Tech Romancer.

Along with Project Justice, these are two of my favorite single player fighting games, due to the fact that they have the bango-fun story modes.

Not to mention Tech Romancer also oozes personality, which is always a plus in my book.

As a spiritual successor to Cyberbots, I think TechRomancer is a damn fine game.

I also agree about the uber-cool story modes. :)

The three of you preach the truth. Tech Romancer and Project Justice both have great gameplay and a wonderful sense of style. The one-player modes in each are great, and multiplayer kicks ass too. I still need to complete all the one-player stuff in both games.

Definately two of the MANY hidden gems in the Dreamcast library.

Yeah, it's a great game. It's not one of my favorite fighters ever, but it's a lot of fun to play - which in the end is what counts.

I feel like going back and playing it now. I think I will.

I'm a fan. The designs are great.

It does hold the crown for least mentioned Capcom gave ever developed.

I love Tech Romancer! I kept putting off buying it until finally Capcom was selling it on their site for $20, and at that price for new, I finally couldn't stop myself any longer.

I'd say the main reason it doesn't get played more often around my place is because Project Justice is the better game when I want some over-the-top funky goodness, but whenever I crave me some hysterical mech action, TR is my sweet, tasty lover.

That's the truth.

I have a feeling Tech Romancer will be one of the games in a couple of years that people will be paying stupid prices on ebay to get, because they over-looked it when it was first released.

Tech Romancer is slower paced than most fighting games, which some people don't dig, and the mecha aren't really well balanced. It also requires many commands packed into button combos, which confuses some people (like my friends). I dig it, especially in story mode, but it has too much competition for play on the dreamcast, with the likes of VOOT and Frame Gride.

And if there is justice in this world, one of the two secret Xbox titles From Software mentioned will be Frame Gride 2. :)

Tech Romancer is a cool little game. No it doesn't have the technique or graphics of Soul Caliber and Dead or Alive 2, but it's a FUN change of pace from most fighters.

Project Justice...keep forgetting to check that out. *-neo
