Death to Smoochy
Wow, a strange movie if I ever saw one.
I went to the local Blockbuster this evening with the girlfriend and tried to find something I hadn't seen to rent. Of course, on a Friday night this is impossible. I thought off all the movies I've been meaning to get to recently. Old School? All out. The Royal Tennenbaums? All out. VS? Well... that was in but I didn't think the little lady would go for it. Finally I spotted "Death to Smoochy" starring Danny Divido, Robin Williams, Ed Norton, and Jon Stewart. An all star cast in a dark comedy, must be great!
Well, it started outt strange, but I knew that from the description. The movie had a lot of style going for it and was pretty funny in a bizzare sort of way so I got pretty into it for a while. Then it started to drag. It just kept going on and on without anything really big happening. And no kung-fu! :p
Anyway, I think it was only a good movie which is a shame since with the cast and concept I think it could have been great. Your thoughts?

Great dark comedy.
8/10.
I don't know if I'd say the cast was great.
Norton and Williams are good and great in it, but John Stewert, Harvey Firestien, The main chick who plays that role every movie she's been in and Danny DeVito? Hardly a all star cast.

I don't think I'd even be that generous. Probably a 5/10 by the time it's all over.

This is an elephant-sized turd of a movie. 2/10.
How edgy is it to make fun of Barney these days? The cultural window for this movie passed at least five years ago.
Terrible dialogue, witless writing, and awful casting.

fucking great movie. I'd give it an 8 out of 10 as well.
it deserves more than a 2 for the mere fact that Robin Williams swears his fucking head off in it.

Death to Smoochy was a fantastic film. I love the subtle jabs at religion throughout the entire film. Spinner was the best, too. "Heeeyy! Smoochy! I love that guy!"

I liked it alot. Reminded me alot of "Throw Mama From the Train".

Really bizaar movie but it was pretty damn funny. I loved the idea of it and Devito is a nut behind the camera. The colors and the camera shots are off the wall in Smoochie. And Spinner is fucking hysterical.
