Ticket booth hypocricy

Tonight, I went to the local megaplex to see The Matrix. My mom purchased the tickets for a friend and me, and all appeared well.

About 30 minutes after shooting the shit in the mall, we decide to go to the movie. Our tickets are torn, and we are let into the reception area without any questions. We go to the entrance to the actual theater, and we (both of us being 16) weren't allowed in without an adult's constant supervision. This was in the very front of the theater, so we couldn't ask a random person to be our father.

My question is, why is it necessary to have an adult present at all times? Does the aquisition of the ticket not signify that an adult approved of the children going to see the movie? What's ironic is that they only follow these guidelines for the first few weeks of a movie release, and then they concentrate their efforts on another film.

As I was getting a ticket refund, I also noticed a huge stack of Matrix ticket stubs from other people getting refunds.

Tones, it sucks that theaters do this now. I can remember buying tickets to see stuff way worse than Revolutions when I was like 13 and never being asked for ID. It all started after the South Park movie and the local news stations covered it like the theaters were selling guns to kids. The only reason they do it now is because they're scared to get a kid who's working for a local new station to bust them.

When I was 16 I never had any problems, sometimes I'd get IDed but then I'd just move to a different theater attendant.

The only movie around here where I.D. was required at all was Kill Bill...

Well, R movies aren't supposed to be sold to people under 17 either...

It's not the rule that makes me mad, it's just that it has never been enforced before. If the the theater was consistent, it wouldn't be a big deal, because that way I would have known that I couldn't get in without a parent, so I could have gone in with a parent or not gone at all. Hell, I talked to a friend that went to a different showing, and he got in without any hassle.

Tones, you got owned, end of story. If I try to buy alcohol when Im not 21 from Ghetto Liquors and I get turned away one day in ten, I got owned and I cant really whine about it because I knew it could happen. Stop bitching and realize the possibility of this will persist until you turn 17.
