Printer problems
I own a Lexmark X83 printer (worst fucking thing) and ran out of color ink. I replaced the color cartridge with a new one and can print fine.......
......in color only. For some reason, the black cartridge (which is half full) doesn't want to print. Everything I print comes out blank unless it was originally in a color other than black. I have to highlight what I want to print and change the color so that it shows up.
Can anyone help? Please reserve all witty "buy yourself a new printer, you're fucked, etc..." posts as they do not help at all.
Thanks!

Melf... you should just buy a new printer. Theyre so damn cheap now, and the only other thing I would recommend would be to buy new ink cartridges. But those ink cartridges would probably be the same price as the printer itself, and like you said, its a POS printer.

I'm not sure if this is the case with all printers, but with mine, it does a quite color bar printing right after I've installed a new printer cartridge. Does your do this/did it do this?
-
yeah my epson stylus will refuse to print black even tho i know damn well theres ink in it. what i have to do is run a nozzle check, then a test pattern and then the head cleaning. then it works fine.

Hmm. I did a nozzle cleaning test and all the colors except black came out. However, the test page came out perfect.
Jeremy- My printer does the alignment page thing when you install new catridges.
I don't know why it's doing this now. it's always worked perfectly and it's only about a year old.

Try looking in the manual (troubleshooting), or calling the company for help?
-
try fiddling in your printer properties tabs, or access the printer properties thru a program like word or something and try tinkering, I dunno what O/S you have thoguh.
-
Does it print black if you are making a plain B&W copy without the PC turned on?
-
It won't print in black at all, copies or otherwise. I'm using XP. I'll have to try tinkering with the properites.
If not, an email to Lexmark is in order. :(
