Well looks like Nokia's N-Gage copy protection wasn't all that robust. This morning, Nokia announced that hackers have already cracked the copy-protection codes for the N-Gage games, and copies of games are already available all over the internet for download. Considering that Nokia expects to make most of its money on the games and not the hardware, this is undoubtedly bad news.
"We take this very, very seriously and have initiated an aggressive program to stop the people that are behind these (intellectual property rights) violations," Nokia Mobile Phones spokesman Damian Stathonikos told Reuters. "We're working to develop our copy protection mechanisms to make this even more difficult in the future."
The cracked versions can supposedly be installed and played on any phone that uses the Series 60 OS, which is used in the N-Gage and other models including Siemens's SX1.
Good luck stopping them. ;)
