i didnt know quickenings gave you more magic, so i was half way through pharos, after the first boss, untill i figured that out. You can play the game and use stradegy and live off of 100ish mana, thats why i always leveled all of my characters, unlike some people who stuck with 3.

I enjoyed it more than Gears. So after playing through Gears, this remains my game of the year.

Good lord, NO. Gears did EVERYTHING right, while this still had some significant flaws.

I'm also more of an RPG fan, I like FPSes and can enjoy them, but I didn't feel anything special about GoW save for it's extremely short single player. But I've always been more of an RPG person, so take that grain of salt with it.

But I was a hardcore CS addict (not hardcore player, I wasn't good lolol).

On the advice of everyone here, I decided to finally give in and buy Final Fantasy XII last night. I figured it would be a long enough game to get me through the "new year's blues." (two weeks without working, while knowing my girl is fucking some other dude = new years can eat shit and die). So, I am hoping Final Fantasy XII will get me through the next week at least....

I played about 2 hours of this last night, and I have to say that I am very surprised. This game is fucking amazing so far, and it seems like it has a world that will be easy to get lost in...

I have one question about the game so far, and I know this is a really stupid question...BUT...is there any way to BLOCK in this game? I don't think I understand all of the fighting system yet. So far, my dude just keeps attacking the creatures while I run around in circles trying not to get hit. Is this how I am supposed to fight? Do I just run in circles like an idiot the whole game.

You could also stand there like an idiot. You're going to get hit either way.

haha...ok cool. The game sounds a lot like real life then, because I do a lot of standing around like an idiot :)

I was just wondering about this, because the fighting system doesn't feel "quite right" yet. It always seems like I am getting hit when enemies are like five feet away. I wasn't sure if it was common to take so much damage in every battle. It makes sense though since this is technically a turn based RPG.

Not by pressing a button, no. Hits, misses, and blocks are measured by skill numbers and calculated by the game in background.

It's a lot like an MMO. I guess I've gotten used to them over the years, but yeah.
