Confirmed. I'm also on a Basch > Balthier kick right now. Manly scars > earrings and gay guy rainbow rings.

Well, the game has an aggro system similar to an MMO. Tanking is exactly what my Balthier did most the game...for bosses he's got his shield, usually has berzerk cast on him along with Provoke (w/e it's called) to keep them off Fran and Ashe who are constantly pulling aggro with spell dmg and heals.
Since that Provoke spell is the only way I know to manually affect aggro, it's tempting to just have everyone wear heavy armor and not worry about it, but it's a huge loss to spell numbers compared to a specifically-equipped caster.
Spell gambits > tank
I don't understand how the aggro system works in FF12. To be honest, there doesn't seem to be much of one. I think the bosses simply focus fire on the player with the highest attack power. I mean, I've been in ridiculously long fights only to have my primary damage dealer drop due to an insta-death attack.. The character easily reacquires aggro after a rez, even before they land a single hit off on the boss.
What is the deal with the beginning of the game? You get this really cool intro full of political intrigue and dramatic fight scenes, but soon after I get control of the main character I'm chasing after a giant tomato man? I know Final Fantasy has always had its goofiness; I was just hoping it was toned down in this one a bit.
Or likes humans... one or the other. You furry freak.
I'm cool with ears and a possible tail.
Except floppy dog ears. That's just not hot.
Don't worry, you get back to the good stuff real quick. It's just introducing you to the main character with an enemy he can actually take while he's still just some street kid.
He comes from a long and proud lineage of noble warrior clowns. Do not mock his heritage!Quote:
