Yes. Gambits are just AI controls, you don't have to use them. They make things really nice but if you want total control then go right ahead.

Those spaces on the board are extra Gambit slots. Each character starts with like four and every spot on the board adds an extra slot (up to like 10 or 12 per character).

Cool. Thanks for the info. The liscense grid kind of worries me at this point, because I was somehow retarded enough to "mess up" my characters while I was using the "sphere grid" in Final Fantasy X. I also just like having total control of all the characters, so it really irritates me when characters enter my party as uncontrollable "guests."

Choose a weapon: Go for that weapon, choose magic types for character: go for that magic: When you don't need any particular spot, get augments.

The license grid is way more forgiving than the sphere grid was. You aren't locked into a single path; the only mistake you can make is to waste license points on things a character won't use.

I'd give the gambit system a chance, too - it's basically just low-level AI programming, and you can set up a pretty good system for your party. Things go way faster when you have a spellcaster auto healing/buffing, and any order you give still overrides their gambits.

Also extremely useful for farming on mobs which you are comfortably higher level than, or the same level. All you do is walk around and the party kills. Only button presses you ever need are to open doors.

Extremely. It would often put me to sleep because I'd just lay down and zonk out 20 minutes later. But when I got back to town, I could afford the best gear, so my OCD was thrilled.

Is it Swedish? I couldn't really figure it out, and I'm trained in accents from broadcasting school...
