Gothika

Gothika with Halle Berry looks to be a good scary Movie this month. It is done by Dark Castle, the people that brought us House on a Haunted Hill, 13 Ghosts, and Ghost Ship. I'd have to say Ghost Ship is my personal favorite of the bunch and hopefuly this movie will deliver the goods and be on par or even better with their previous works.

House on Haunted Hill was okay until the spirit of Corky Romano ruined it. This movie looks cool, but I'm going to avoid knowing anything about it so I can maybe enjoy a scary movie for once.

I still think it was a good movie, but you're right, that ruined it.

I agree. First half of House was great. Quite creepy and stylish, but when good ghosts started popping up, it went downhill :(

I did like Ghost Ship, it was ok horror flick, but 13 Ghosts was awfull, except for make and fx.

Hopefully Gothika will end up decent.

Do the studios behind the movies actually influence what movies you want to watch? I mean, that used to be a big thing to do, but now, people never look beyond the director, writer, and actors...

To be on topic, I'll probably get it from the library once it hits DVD. In the movie, they do my favorite camera technique: filming people walking backwards and then playing it in reverse on the screen. Creepy as hell!

I also like the way that looks. I think they used it in House on Haunted Hill when they saw the doctor with the knife on the security camera. It gives me shivers everytime I see it!

Well if they have a track recored for making decent to semi decent horror movies, I'd think people might keep an eye on the studio. Thia seems to be their biggest project yet, and going with A list stars and a hit song on their soundtrack is a step above, not that any of that stuff really matters.

Hoping this one is actually Scary and we have another Ring type surprise on our hands, but I'm not getting my hopes to high yet.

House on Haunted Hill had so much potential. The begining was awesome and the rollercoaster bit was great, and then they just didn't push it far enough. That house was full of crazy shit to do and they never really showed enough or got scared enough. And I thought chris catan was one of the highlights of the movie. Although his spirit at the end was a cop out, I still liked his character.

As for gothica, I'm not a fan of Berry so I'll wait for DVD.

I bought the original House on Haunted Hill (old black and white film) and was actually suprised at its ocasional creepyness :)

im going to see it saturday with the girlfried. and i agree about HoHH. the beginning whith the killing/fire in the asylum made it seem like it was going to be so badass and then it was decent.....then that mango ghost at the end. blah......just simply ruined it. havnt seen ghost ship yet, heard there's some good kills. worth it?
