So when the hell did Aquaman get so bada...err..less pathetic?

So I was watching JL last night and Aquaman was on and he was almost badass, I'm talking like a right on the brink of it too. It was his charge at Superman that broke it for him though, I mean god what could be more pathetic than charging at someone you have no chance in hell at beating and being dragged, unconcious, the very next scene. Still I mean Aquaman went from:

His brother cut his hand off. He got really hairy and even more angsty. Plus people thought he was a fag so DC toughened him up.

they should approach aquaman comics from the standpoint that everybody thinks he is a joke. It would make it really cool, and aquaman could snap and go off all the time.

I was thinking recently about how funny an Adult Swim version of The Super Friends would be - I mean done ala Sea Lab - with Aquaman being the butt of every joke.
