A month or so ago I read a thread here saying the price on Japanese PS2 systems was going to drop below $200. Is this true and if so, can I have a source? NCSX and VGD still have them at around 300 for the standard black system and more for the special ones.

It's already happened, I forget the exact date it came but it's in effect; scan some recent Japanese hardware sales charts to see the effect.
However, said price reductions rarely translate to lower prices on import sites. Just because the stores are getting them for less doesn't mean they have to pass the savings on to the consumer, especially if demand is constant.
NCS still has a $75+ premium on non-Asian import PS2s.
Gotcha, so is there anywhere where I can get them cheaper?

If you're reluctant to try eBay, it's hard to find any online stores with decent reputations that offer them without taking their own absurd profits. I never found any luck back when I was looking a few months ago. You may have to wait out a little longer for any of the big online sellers to pass along the price-drops.

I have no problem with ebay, I just didn't see much the other day there cheap, but I'll keep my eyes peeled...hmmm...is toys n joys a good place to buy from? Anyone have experience with them? That's a decent price I'm happy with.
