Daytona USA vs. Ridge Racer

I like the Ridge Racer games much more than the Daytona games. I have always thought that in RR it feels more like you are in control of the car, like its part of you. While in Daytona it feels like you are being dragged by the car and are desperatly trying to get it under control like a wild bull or something. Plus the Ridge Racer games, especialy Rage and R4, just have more to them. Fells like there is more to accomplish and to achieve. While I have not sat down with RRV all that much, it seems like its the weakest link in the series after the few test runs I have had with it, I have been meaning to pick it up to give it more attention. Plus I think RR has better style. Mmmmm RR.

CCE was the only Netlink rev. its not nearly as loose as the DC one. also there are slight control differences between the original CCE and the Netlink one.

What's wrong with the DC version? It controls just fine if you adjust the steering to your preferences. Add in the different cars and tires, and you can get just about any nuance of control you want, saturn or otherwise.

You are correct, the US name in the arcades was Sega GT, nothing close to the DC game of the same name.

see thats the thing....ive heard that so many times but it gets so dammned frustrating with how long it takes to exit out of the game just to adjust the sensitivity a little bit. VERY annoying. because of this i know ive put a really great game into my pile of shame but i just dont feel like using 3 hours of my life to try and get the control just right.

Well, once you get what you want set, it saves your preference. But I understand...my pile of shame has games in it for less valid reasons :D

Record of Lodoss War is also in my pile simply because i dont understand the whole ingraving thing properly. i've gone thru pretty far (about halfway) just kind of hacking my way thru but it would be nice to really know what i'm doing :(

Basically, you put a rune on your weapon or armor, and each time you engrave it, your item improves by that amount. Say you engrave hp +5 in your armor, your hp improves by that much whenever you wear that item. You can keep engraving the same runes until they're maxed out, and they don't have to be "active" in your ancient slots to work. Just think of the mithril as money, and each time you buy an extra 5 hp or whatever. You can also change the engraved runes between different items (if you find better armor you don't have to lose all the runes you've engraved) with the book of transformation. Certain runes, the yellow ones, do have to be in your slots to work, however.

Check the Narcotic of Lodoss War thread a few pages back for more in-depth discussion (feel free to resurrect it). It's all about Durability, Criticals and those Busters.

hmmmm....almost sounds like what i was doing...just fealt like i was missing something. thanks a lot for the info. mebbe someday ill sit down and read a faq or something :P

actually, here in the U.S. Scud Racer is known as Super GT, not Sega GT. Close titles. :P Sega is Super. =)
