Anyone pick up the new GBA game? Its got everything fans would expect from harvest moon, and is extremely addicting. I'm about a game-month into it and loving it so far.

When I was at EB, I saw a 9 or 10 year old pick it up.Quote:

I know a few of the recent titles really strayed from the original idea of Harvest Moon, and turned out kind of crap because of that.
I'd really like an old-school feeling version of Harvest Moon to play, so if this is it, I'm there.
I read that this one is supposed to be based off the PSX game, but it sure doesn't feel like it. Maybe it’s the graphics, but to me, this one feels a lot like the SNES version, but with a bunch more stuff to do. The replay and addiction factor of this one are off the charts as well. One of the only things that I think is different from the older games in the series is the way harvest sprites are handled. They seem to play a much larger role in this game. Its only my first month and I’ve already become good enough friends with 4 of them to have them working on my farm every day. There are also mini games you can play with the sprites to make them better at their jobs. I think you need to be quicker getting your girl in this ver too. Each girl has one other suitor besides yourself that will marry her if you don’t get her first. You can often see the other guy around her and you can walk in on their conversations some time.
Somehow I never imagined Lobo to be a Harvest Moon fan. Never the less, I can't wait to get this as well, I was at EB today and was thinking about it, but decided on Mario & Luigi for now. HM shall be mine soon enough, though.
Well, I still think to this day that the SNES version was the best one, so it sounds like I might have to check this one out.
Yeah, my favorite is the SNES version too, followed by Harvest Moon 64.
Update: I now have a small army of sprites that work my farm and tend my animals, leaving me most of the day to collect minerals and presents for my future wife. The sprites kinda make the game automated, almost cutting you out of the farming aspect, which could be a problem since the games biggest draw is probably its simple farming gameplay, but you don't have to use the sprites if you don't want to. And if you do choose to employ them, you have to keep giving them gifts so that they will continue to work for you.
It sounds like they dumbed it down, basacially, but giving you the sprites. Nothing will ever top the SNES or 64 version :(Quote:

This adds another rpg style element to the game. And if you don't want to, you don't have to use the sprites anyway. It's actually better to not use them for some things, like animals, since I guess they have to be high lvled before they can match your ability. I let one take care of my chickens for 3 days and now 2 of my chickens (Breast and Thigh) are unhappy, but that may be because Breast lost the cock fight event.
Yeah I picked this up, got my free plush cow promo as well :D
Yeah the SNES version is still my favorite one, hopefully the GameCube one will be pretty good coming out early next year :)
Did you play Back to Nature on PSX? That game was incredible.Quote:
