Windows internet explorer help

This is driving me nuts. A few months ago I changed something somehow, and now whenever I go to download a zip file, it will not ask me where I want to save it. Instead, it automatically downloads it to a temporary directory and opens it when the download is complete.

Any ideas how to change that back? I have no idea what made it do that in the first place. I really want it to treat zip files like every other download again.

I'm cool with IE, it gets the job done.

I've never really cared enough about the internet to go beyond IE. If it would just stop automatically opening zip files, it would be fine again.

I'm not sure you can unassociate opening zip files via IE's download system... I always just use right-click save-as anyway.

Its not a matter of caring about the internet, its about just being better. Seriously, use tabs for like 20 seconds and youre a convert. Just trust me on that. And a built in pop up blocker.

If youre gonna surf the internet, why not use the best program? Seriously... what you are telling me is like "I dont really care about music, so Ill just listen to Hanson".

The thing is, for the first several months this computer didn't have that association, so I know it can be undone.

I right click whenever I can, but some downloads are buttons instead of links and can't be right-clicked.

And OK diff, I'll try out this Mozilla.

What turned me off of MSIE is when it started (out of the blue) bringing windows into focus when I didn't want them to. Like I'd open a page, and go to another window while that page loaded. MSIE would seemingly randomly pop the window in the background up to the top, which was pissing me wayyyyyyyy off.

Mozilla rocks. With the right plugin (Tabbrowser Extension) you can make it open up links from mIRC, AIM, ICQ, etc. in the background.

Oh yeah, tabs rock.

I can't use MSIE anymore without cursing.
