Don't blame the religious biggotry on christianity, blame it on the christians (the bigotted ones anyway :p). It is man that is doing these actions, not god. Ultimately, the bible teaches good morals and ethics, and is not as bad a text as most believe. Anyway, if you have any serious questions or anything, you'd be better off directing them at CV, who is the only person I know who has approached this religion properly.

I'd be Christian in a heart beat if it allowed me to see nothing wrong with gays, have sex before marriage, see that abortion and euthanasia were acceptable in very specific cases, and believe in evolution.
Then you really dont have much of a heart to be one to begin with for items numbered 2-4. Christians dotn think there is soemthign wrong with gays, w esee the act as a sin, but people are distinct from their actions You can beleive in evolution in the catholic church so long as you beleive that humankind 's step in evolution was a special one, distinct from the other steps. But really lets not kid ourselves, you dont want to be one, thats really fine, its your choice, but lowering our standards to that level would be being false to ourself. honestly, if we lowered our faith to accept your lax feelings about the genocide of the unborn and the hmo's next big money saving scheme,and the mtv morality then we would lose our way irrevocaly.
The bible doesn't say anything against euthanasia or abortion, aside from the general "thou shalt not kill". It does advocate capital punishment, after all. These issues are more based on general matters of ethics than anything that Jesus (or any other Christian/Jewish figure) ever taught. Not all Christians are universally opposed to abortion.Quote:

1. Read between my lines. "Specific cases", I don't mean that EVERYBODY should be allowed to have abortions, but there are some cases in which I see it morally just. Like if a woman has a cervical cancer and treating her with chemotherapy or radiation would kill the baby when it's highly developed in the third trimester, and not treating her would eventually kill the baby and her. So you give her a simple drug early on so she passes it like menstruation even before the third week.

Maybe you should understand what a word means before using it. Instead of thinking "Dah, Genocide was when lots of people died, abortion kills lots of people, so it's genocide".
2. Part of my job involves palliative care there's only so much medicine can do to keep people painfree when they are dying. Some people suffer needlessly for really long periods of time before the end, some people constantly asked the doctor to do something for them (if you know what I mean). And I mean, it's not like they a begging to die, or in a moment of madness because of the pain, they get this horrible look in their eyes when asking... it cuts right through you... it's so disheartening... it makes you want to cry, in fact IT DOES make you cry. There's nothing we can do for them.
I have nothing wrong with Christianity or The Bible, I don't think anything is wrong with it, I think it's just another type of morality, one which is incompatible with a couple of my moral views and life experiences.
My problem is not with Christianity, it's with most Christians. I just get SOOOOOOOO sick of Christians constantly looking down on me like i'm some morally-corrupt-baby-raping-serial-murderer. I don't look down on them... oh but wait... how can I look down on them when I'm below them.

And apparently, Gay sex is only ever mentioned in the bible as part of paganistic culture, so to say god hates gays is out of context.

What instances has what you have described actually happened to you? It definitely isn't correct behavior.
