Just curious if any one plays certain video games every holiday season that have Christmas themes. I started last year with the 9 Holes of Xmas disc (Outlaw Golf with Christmas theme) and this year I will add Christmas Nights to my xmas line up. I'm not to sure of any more games with a Christmas theme but I am sure they are out there.
Definitely Christmas Nights.
I guess Animal Crossing if anyone still plays that...and maybe that winter stage in Banjo-Tooie with the Xmas tree...ummm...
Sega GT put out that expansion level with the most irritating X-Mas music in the background. It made my ears bleed :X
I actually found myself playing the Nightmare Before Christmas world in Kingdom Hearts again. Not horribly Christmas-y, but it reminded me strongly of the movie. Kinda got me into the December spirit.
Almost forgot about the Christmas download in Sonic Adventure for Dreamcast. That was a nice touch by Sega.

I'm totally into this sort of thing.
I usually go with new installments of games previously played during the Xmas season. For example, I've saved Shenmue II and JetSet II for this Christmas since I played the first ones in Decembers past. Yes, indeed, I have great memories of moving crates as a dock worker in the crisp winter air (and even working on Christmas day!) when I was unemployed in real life. Good stuff! :)
I have Xmas NiGHTS but could never get into it like the original game. Prolly just didn't give it enough of a chance. Yeah, I gotta try that game again.
I do it with CDs too. Got the latest Album Leaf release all lined up and ready to go!

Last year I was playing JSRF around this time. Picked it up again today and it reminded me of last year.
I first played Sonic 2 over Thanksgiving the year it was released. It never fails that sometime during the holiday I see or do something that reminds me of Sonic 2.
Same thing with Sonic 3, though it was a Sex Ed. Workshop my mother forced me to go to instead of playing. :lol: Everytime I think of that game I remember twenty akward teens sitting in a room discussing sex with adults more than twice their age. Now *that's* fun.
I go back and play a lot of SNES games. Right now I'm playing Super Metroid, it's not as hard as I remember it being =X
Also Mario 3. Lots and lots of Mario 3.

I'm in the same boat as Despair but I might try it this season.
If I want to just get into the spirit of it I would play the snow levels in games like Ice Cap in Sonic Adventure DX, Phendrana Drifts in Metroid Prime and a whole lotta SSX3.
I'll most probably be playing 1080: Avalance along with those.
BTW last year's Christmas was perfect. It was a white Christmas over here in NY(which was rare) and probably in alot of other places I hope.

I try to play a few games I received for christmas years ago that I loved, mainly Ocarina of Time, PowerStone and Diddy Kong Racing.

I've made a tradition out of playing Christmas Nights. I don't play it more than maybe an hour, but it just gets me in the mood. The one thing I hate about the game though, is that horrible narrative from the girl. No emotion at all. :yuck:
I've actually thought about playing the original Shenmue, around Christmas, or on Christmas day. I loved playing it and seeing the people dressed up as Santa and hearing the X-Mas music playing from within the convenience store. I might just adjust the clock on the old DC, just to experience that moment.
Christmas Nights is definitely the way to go.

Sakura Taisen 2 still has one of the best Christmas scenarios out there.
Otherwise it's gotta be platform shooters or anything with lots of red blood flying about. My fondest Wolf3D memories are of me playing through all the original 6 missions while carols came in on the radio.
Animal crossing has become that game, but prior to that i had played christmas nights, but i kind of fell out of that.
A lot of Genesis games seem to have a Christmas-y feel.
Christmas Nights just seems lame and cheesy to me. I'd rather play a game with a great snow level - Saturn Rayearth and Daggerfall during the winter are good examples. I'd play DC Kanon, too, if my Japanese comprehension was up to it.
Perhaps I'll play the snow level of Panzer Dragoon Orta this year. Beautiful.
Shenmue. My perfect fall game.
Christmas Nights, always. A winter tradition for me in more recent years is Shenmue. I really love the feel of that game, and I don't really care what people have to say about it. It's really peaceful... kind of puts me at ease. Nice for winter break. Plus, I got the Japanese version on Dec 31 '99, so I kind of associate it with that time. I now play the English version, though, because I like to know what I'm doing. And the dub makes me smile, because it's damn goofy at times.
If last year is any indication, though, New Year's Eve will be a Halo LAN extravaganza. Hopefully this time with the addition of lots and lots of Guinness.
