(EDIT) Well, now that I've read it again more closely, I'm not sure anything will come of it, and even if it does it would almost be amusing to see the UN try to place speech controls on the Net. The US has tried (if only symbolically) and their actions haven't been all that useful.

But still, it's a scary worst-case prospect, China leading a thrust for Internet regulation.... :wtf:

(EDIT AGAIN) By the US's "speech controls" of course I mean the laws meant to make the Net safer for children. Boy, that sure worked, didn't it?

I think this is great ... the internet should be under UN jurisdiction and control. I hope something comes of this.
