Does anybody remember Melfice from Grandia 2? The game had a bad habit of displacing all of it's difficulty to the boss fights anyway, but the fight with Melfice was just ridiculous. He had only three parts to him, but each one was equally annoying. His horns of valmar move was really, REALLY a bitch. I probably died at this guy 6 or 7 times.Quote:

The devils (Red Arremers?) in the last level of G&G and SuperG&G were difficult at best, when dealing with all the other enemies thown in it takes a bit of luck to get to Loki. When you almost make it to the next section they swoop down and end it all.
I liked the concept of Yevon. It's a shame it's susceptible to some potentially super-easy status ailments, but the idea is cool in sort of an abstract way. The real bosses are all the specialty monsters from the Arena though.Quote:

Ratchet from the Evil Mecha 5! She was adorable...
The Gordats from Guardian Heroes are the funniest things ever. OMG sweat damage!
I agree with you on both the item fetching in FFX and the Calm Lands monster creation side quest. That part ALONE took me about as long as it took to beat the game (50 or so hours) but it was worth seeing Yuna dishing out 99999 damage with her staff. In the end, FFX is the only one in the series I never really went back to play a second time, not if I wanted to spend another 130 hours on it.Quote:

Last but not least, Necron is also the most ridiculous boss I've ever seen. He came out of NOWHERE, and he looks like one big, shiny blue Oscar award.
Lavos. :(
the classic "SNK fighting game boss", of them: KOF94 Rugal and SS2's Mizuki were fuggin insane.
And not a hard boss, but badass all the way, KOF97 Orochi.
What kind of stupid bullshit is that?Quote:

Eh, it wasn't too bad, considering that most people have the summonings set to the truncated animations the whole game. It was neat to see the full animations for some of them one last time.Quote:

I sat there, whaling away at this guy for about 45 minutes before I realized it wasn't doing anything.
So I die, come back for more, and die again.
The game never mentions that you need to kill this part of him, so on my third try I just kill ALL his little heads (which is annoying) and then managed to kill him. Bastard.
the last boss from grandia 2 was total shit
Didn't have a problem with Grandia 2's last boss (or any boss in Grandia 2... though I played the DC version; maybe they made the PS2 one harder?). Nightmare's last form in DMC on Normal difficulty took me a good two hours though. Wasn't itching to try my hand at Hard mode after that so I retired that game for good (though I did like it mucho, my nerves were shot by the end).
Oh, Arc the Lad 2's last boss seriously took me like three hours. Just chipping away at him, running back and healing. I didn't know how else to approach it. I hated that fight.
The only way I could possibly think of is that they ported the game so horribly it required great effort just to keep it on.Quote:

I never did any levelling and never remembered needing to stock up on items, but I had no trouble with Grandia II. The only time I died was on this one enemy that had an instant kill spell. And I think there were only one or two of them in the game. Other than that, the game was a pushover... I liked it a lot, though.Quote:

Zemus/Zeromus showed up close to the end of FFIV, but nowhere near this close. It was the only thing about FFIX I really hated.
A boss I loved was Bison in the original SF2. Playing the game as a kid, the guy just felt powerful. It was intimidating. When I'd win the first round, I got such an adrenaline rush, and if I was lucky and/or focused enough to win, the relief and happiness I felt was insane.
I never can get into games like that anymore. It kinda sucks.
Yeah, I didn't do excessive leveling in that game though. I was pretty bored and rushed through the second half just to get it over with. I might've just gotten lucky on the last boss.Quote:

Yo, G...er...Vicious...
[ spoiler ] [ /spoiler ] Take the spaces out. Use 'em before someone bitches...
And I never did beat Bangai-O's last boss. Used invincibility to finish the game. My eternal shame.
What a badass. BEHOLD MY MIGHTY HAND!Quote:

Don't even remind me. The best you can hope to do is ram him against the wall and hope you can push him along it until he dies. More often than not, though, I was a shitstain on the floor in less than 20 seconds.Quote:

I recall Dark Force from Phantasy Star II as being one hell of a fight. I couldn't even beat the sucker. It took an RPG obsessed friend of mine many tries after handing him the controller.
Dark Force = mean, ugly and tough as hell!
Castlevania's Death.
I thought the boss from Star Ocean 2 was really really hard, it took me months to defeat him. When I first played MGS I fought Psyco Mantis without the controller trick so it was a real bitch to beat em.
:| +1 on my Warpact list... and i'll go for Metal Sonic.Quote:

Gaenor from morrowind, i suppose the developers wanted to shut those of us up who said the game was too easy,i had to do the potion stacking trick to beat him, nothing like 9 surjammas to turn you into the incredible hulk. Runner up here were the maze werewolves in bloodmoon, if you drew more than 2, no matter who your backup was, you died. Pity hircine was such a weakling then, his own hounds could work him.
Funniest enemy was bandigger from thousand arms, that man needs his own game.
