Funny and depressing

From a woman who teaches developmentally challenged kids, and uses this to vent about it. Excellent reading on everything I've seen so far, have a free sample-

"I got pulled over for speeding in a school zone. I had to pull into the school parking lot to deal with the cop. He left his lights flashing, and everyone was staring. The short busses pull in, my kids wave at me, see the police lights, and think I am getting in big trouble. One tard refuses to get off the bus. Apparently he has learned from incidents with his parents that flashing lights mean daddy is going away for awhile."

Most people that work in these kind of jobs for any length of time have to develop a sense of humor or the become completely emotionally withdrawn from their work. I couldn't do it, even volunteering for two weeks at a school for the mentally disabled made me so depressed I could barely stand it. Nothing to me is more depressing than mental illness

Thing is, I think Riti Sped, despite being able to see how ridiculous some of these situations were, legitimately cared about the kids. So it was funny and at the same time acceptable. I don't find any of the Sarah Hammon stuff anywhere near that quality... it just doesn't seem like she likes what she's doing. It seems far less reasonable that most of what she talks about happens as she said it.

The old content is amazing stuff, though.

heh, those are good, i occasionally worked in group homes and delt with some stuff like this, though mine were usually more criminal than special needs, though they usually go hand in hand. Some of those stories were funny, though i know how she felt with the augusta kid, we had one like that, i got good at keeping him out of situations that caused meltdowns, from painful experience.

It doesn't sound like this girl likes her job very much.

omega, you would be surprised, i felt like this often when i worked at the group homes,and one of my best friends is a special ed teacher at the local public school, and while my stories arent quite as bad(i got laid off in budget cuts quickly) but she has a lot worse stories than that.

Retards make me laugh.
