Spiderman 2 trailer hits the net

Venom just isn't viable... I've had that discussion with some buddies.
It wouldn't be too hard to get around the secret wars and find some other way for the costume to come into being... but it would be necessary for Spidey to wear the costume for quite a while to properly develop it's hatred for Spiderman. I figure it would take two movies... one where he wears the black costume for the whole film... and then the second one could have him removing it and the making of Venom.

Yeah I said the same thing on the other Spiderman 2 movie thread. Any way you go about it his origin is probably the most complex to try to fit in. He does make a cool visual though.

Doc Ock is perfect. He's just a guy in a mechanical suit = cheap to do but still looks cool. Is a classic villain from Spidey's heyday but still liked by today's readers, and is just plain a kick ass villain no matter how you slice it. I personally would like to see the Sandman, but that'll never happen.

Nahh - If you take a peek at the Ultimate Spiderman, Venom story arc they handled a Venom origin very nicely w/o all of the Secret Wars space travel BS.

Going off memory, but basically Eddie Brock and Petes dad worked together in a lab and had developed a chemical that that becomes the symbiote we all know and love.Pete and Eddie meet up and try to form a friendship (they knew each other as kids apparently) and hang out some. They both discover the chemical. Pete endes up bonding with it, trys to destroy it as he realizes how dangerous it is. Eddie gets pissed because he thinks Petes trying to hog/ruin their fathers' legacy and takes it for himself , bonds with it , and becomes hungry for some brains - voila Venom story without all of the other nonsense - it CAN be done...

If they wanted, they just mess with the origin. I mean, Harry Osborn hates Spider-man... and he's the head of a giant defense tech company. So he develops a new bio suit and recruits a random guy named Eddie Brock to wear it against Spider-man. He goes and attacks Spidey and is driven insane by the suit.

It'd kinda be like the origin of the Scorpion. Only black and gooey. :D
