It's a start, and a pretty good one at that. "Big brother" people will you, RIAA?!

Not a bad read, hopefully further actions will be taken against the RIAA...damn bastards:P
Yeah, CD sales falling wouldn't have ANYTHING to do with the numerous price gouging violations the recording industry has been convicted of in the past.
Because, yeah, people just want to steal music. That's why iTunes went bankrupt after the first week.
Right the fuck on.
Love the thread subtitle, cka. :)
I know they're gonna file an appeal for this, but if they get ruled out on futher lawsuits, there's not a damn thing they can do.
Plus I noticed a movement for getting the money back out of those settlements is starting to take place, families should sue them back for unlawful prosecution.
woo hah, the riaa was out of line, hope this is the first of many losses for them. I dont steal my music, but their methods are way over the line.
I buy CDs to support the artists and don't use P2P for any reason, but have sub-zero sympathy for the RIAA. They don't give a donkey's dick about the artists- it's all about the corporate lackeys. The time has come to start sucking, you customer gouging & artist robbing suits.
If the families sue Cary and his coldhearted regime of fat cats, then more power to them. Hey, major labels- why don't you try something intelligent for a change, like lowering your damned prices to $10-12 on CDs? Charging 150-200% the price of a cassette version is criminal profiteering. CDs don't cost that much to make anymore. And quit releasing new music on cassette- that format is crap now.
Cka- Excellent thread subtitle.
I have nothing more to add to this thread...
but I would like to reiterate... fuck the RIAA...
It just can't be said enough.
Well, you do realize that much more of your CD purchase is going strait to the record companies the RIAA represents ( and that's WHO they represent - they SAY "it's about the artists" and then support a system that ultimately f**ks them ) and NOT to the artists?Quote:

Another positive step forward for music. Now if we could only sign a bill to ban MTV from being aired...

Seriously all they are doing is contributing to the drop in sales of CD's with these actions becasue they are panicking for not jumping on the online bandwagon back when it wouldn't have seemed like an after thought.
Down the RIAA, they did it to themselves by remaining in the Jurrassic era willingly.
I'm sure the T-Rex fought to stay alive too.
But we all know how that story ended up.
That sir.. fucking owned.. :nod:Quote:

I'm starting to look into some independent music though. One indie label I've checked out lately is TDI Music (label founded by the group Tangerine Dream). I've just preordered TD's DM4 which comes out in January.
I guess I'm one of the few who never bothers to notice and doesn't care what the "label" I'm buying is. The main reason I don't buy CDs is because they are too expensive in stores...but I will sample music online, and then buy cds at $10-15 online (that magic price range) if I like the stuff. Music retailers are a joke anyway...I'm finding less and less reason to buy much of anything beyond clothes and food in person anymore.
I went into my local CD chain to buy a CD from the early 90s that I know was $10 when it came out. The price tag was $17. This was after buying the Pirates of the Carribean 2 DVD set for $16. Needless to say, I didn't buy the CD, but I'm not about to pirate it either. I'll stick to the CDs I have and screw the music industry.
It's this knowledge that has led me to feel good about spending $152 on a couple shirts and stickers at a concert. At least I know the $49 of profit from each shirt goes to the band and not some no talent corporate bastard holding a contract.Quote:

Yay!
BACK TO KAZAA! :D
Now if only they stopped flooding those messed up MP3s onto the P2Ps.......
Looks like there's yet another victory...

Granted, I don't often use it to download music. I make better use of it ^^

No, I don't download porn of any sort, just to clear that up. Typically I'll download anime I can't get in the States/wont pay 30 bucks per 2 episodes for.
So stop fantasizing.
