That looks pretty cool !! I mean, it's no Lord of the Rings, but cool nonetheless :)
Those robots remind me of The Iron Giant.
Is that the same "Sky Captain" that the NES game was based on?
Not sure. I was reminded of the Iron Giant myself, although after watching it I had the Tailspin theme-song stuck in my head for some reason.
"..all the trouble he get in, with another Tailspin!"
No it's a completely original story. It was originally called just The World of Tomorrow but I guess they changed it because there's another epic by Roland Emmerich (finally!) called Day After Tomorrow coming out around the same time, which could get confusing.
What's interesting is that the principal actors filmed their scenes in just a few days/weeks, and everything else you see is completely CG. Sometimes, they interact with a real phone or lamp or they construct a portion of a cockpit, but they filmed everything in front of a blue screen and everything else is added in post-production. A step beyond George Lucas but the end result looks incredible.
So yeah, I've been looking forward to this for a while.
Sqoon, it seems like the movie will be worth seeing simply to find out how well they pulled that technique off.
Looks awesome.
I love the genre, and I can't wait to see it.
Are you talking about Captain Skyhawk?Quote:

They are totally unrelated but the movie looks really cool. But Angelina Jolie as a Nazi dominatrix type with her Lara Croft accent on could turn people off.

Truthfully she always turns me off (Gwynneth is way hotter). But yah, I saw the trailer before LOTR and thought it looked pretty damn cool. I like the design on the robots and such.Quote:

I saw the trailer at LOTR and I must say this looks quite nifty. I got Iron Giant vibes as well, but I got more of a War of the Worlds feel from the trailer.
