After watching T2 and the Two Towers, I'm reaffirmed in my preference towards integration. The first two Alien films were much cooler this way IMO. I know many people prefer the original theatrical release though. Being on DVD and all, I don't see why they just don't give you the option to choose. Episode 1 pissed me off with its half-ass deleted scenes on a seperate disc. I really would have liked to have watched them as part of the film.

Really it depends on the movie, cause some movies have deleted scenes that are justly deleted (they suck/waste of time/no relevance to the scene/whatever) while other movies have deleted scenes which should never have been cut. A good example is the T3 DVD, the entire spiel about the government buying Cyberdine's technology SHOULD have been in but NOT WITH AHNOLD TALKING IN THAT DAMN SOUTHERN ACCENT....
I'm fine either way... but either give me a choice or put them aside, never just integrate them. Some deleted scenes were deleted for a reason.
Seamless Branching not an option? It allows you to have both the original release of the movie and the extended edition all on one dvd.
like Shaolin Soccer. i like the branching option because it lets me choose whether or not i want to see the deleted scenes when they're supposed to happen or not. i wish more companies made dvds like that.Quote:

Scenes are generally cut from a movie for one of two reasons, as far as I can think of:
01. The movie was too long, and needed to be trimmed down.
02. It sucked.

01. The scenes genuinely add something to the film.
02. The director needs his ego to be stroked one more time for a movie he released in the past, and his fans want to stroke said ego.
Reason for cutting #1 correlates to reason for putting back in #1. This is worthy, and leads to excellent re-releases like the Lord of the Rings DVDs. There was just too much material to put on the big screen, but the DVD is a great medium for that.
Reason for cutting #2 correlates more to reason for putting back in #1. This leads to bullshit re-releases like The Exorcist. Sometimes, a movie is just better in its original form, and scenes were cut for a reason, and cut they should stay.
#2 is much more common than #1. But even in the case of #1, its hard to really say definitively if the extended version is better than the original. Oftentimes it becomes a slightly different film. The Two Towers is a perfect example of this.
Overall, I would say that cut scenes should stay that way. The ones Ive seen are mostly rubbish. The Lord of the Rings DVDs would be an exception more than anything else.
It depends on the reason the scene was cut... if it was a good scene cut for time then I'd prefer it in the movie... but if it was cut because it sucked then leave it out.
