Im sure people are starting to get gifts... so bragging rights begin here.

I think this is gonna be the best Christmas ever for me, in spite of the fact that I didnt ask for anything except for like 2 CDs... funny how that works out.

I'll probably get money and guilt trips, I've already gotten two of the latter.

I'm really starting to hate holidays that families normally spend together.

so far all i've gotten is $80 in cash and Karaoke Revolution. i'll end up getting some more cash.

As far as the book, its cool, because I do collect records...but half of the book is corny 80s covers, almost 10 pages of Elvis...and only maybe a good 5 pages is dedicated to early 70s psych rock covers (Neil Young, Steve Miller Band, James Brown covers).

Books mostly. The theme seems to be Historical this year. Mostly on Templars and Free Masons. I'm prepareing myself to take in this vast amount of trivia.

I wanted a Casio Exlim Digital Camera though.

My sister's getting an iPod. I get 3 books and she gets a $300 iPod. Not to mention they bought those books with my discount from working at Gamestop (B&N). They could have gotten me a new Xbox or that Digicam I offered to pay half of or a new HDD from my computer or something.

A customer at my store got me a 50 dollar gift certificate at Pacsun though... I think they spent more on me than my family did.

Could've been worse. About a year ago one of my friends' parents refused to chip in a little cash to help buy him a new pair of boots despite having no problem buying a brand new car for his sister who didn't ask for one. :wtf: $50 Boots > $1500 car?

Just because they are parents doesn't mean that they are good parents.

That already happend to me man. I've been buying my own damned boots for the past 5 years while sister had my parents pay for her car and her insurance. I drive a 600 dollar '91 Plymoth Voyager. To hear my family talk to reletives:

Parents: "Megan just graduated from the University of Houston and is about to start her job Teaching. We're so prowd of her!"

Reletives:"And your son?"

P: "Oh, he's just got a scholarship to Baylor University since we bought him his own double bass (6 grand). They wouldn't accept him if he didn't have his own instrument."

R: "I mean your other son. Whatshisname..."

P:"who? Oh that guy who gave us an extra $1,000 to buy that bass for our son. He's doing something.. I dunno."

Eh. I can't blame them too much. I mean.. I'd rather my brother got a full shcolarship to Baylor than whatever that one thousand dollars would have bought me. My sister does work hard to get where she's at - she just was given a few more oppurtunities but it's no excuse - she'll make more than enough money now to take care of herself just fine. I've really no excuse to not be doing that for myself. I mean.. you shouldn't expect handouts. Give to whom you wish to give to and be thankfull for the gifts you do recive and all that.

And to actually add something meaningful to this post: I gave way more this year than I got, and way more than I've given any other year in the past.

We dropped tons of cash on various donations and gifts n' such for local charities, needy kids, and pet rescue/animal shelters.

Kinda neat.

I tend to give better gifts than I receive so I'm gonna talk about those since my gifts rock.

I gave three of my gamer friends games (metal arms, deus ex 2, vf4:evo) respectively.

I gave one of my sisters Karaoke Revolution.

I gave another sister two DVDs -- the Tenacious D Masterworks and Run, Ronnie, Run.

random gifts to friends; family; rommates: A connect four, XBOX Live starter kit, The 80s Game, A complete illustrated guide to modern firearms, a complete illustrated guide to knives, Vice: The Book, Magnetic Poetry.

I usually tailor make a gift buy to the person but if I can't figure it out I usually do the gift card thing.

I've gotten quite a few gifts this year that came out of nowhere, including a TV and DVD player for my room. Also got the Ultimate Ric Flair Collection, which has been amazing so far.

All I've gotten so far was the Ziggy Stardust DVD, maybe tommorow I'll get some more stuff.

It actually turned out quite fortunate that I didn't buy anyone presents, as the hospital forced me to pay off part of the bill and that completely drained all of my money. Well, not all, I did have a few bucks left over for food.

I'd make people stuff but I really suck at that. Hmm... maybe it's almost time for another gift of guilt tripping, only this time from me! I love Christmas!

A shame all this has to happen when the weather is so nice. January owns December.

I dont know what I'm getting for Christmas, probably a decent amount gift card at foleys that i can use on stuff i need or something i'd want - maybe they'd have the type of coat i'm looking for over there...then again maybe not.

i got a new dell. with a celoron proceser at 2.4 ghz cd writter. my parints could only spend 400$ on me so i think its a good deal :rolleyes:

I'm just hoping I don't get for Christmas what I got last year. Having a grand mal panic attack while driving alone at 70 MPH is not a present I want again.

I think my parents got me a George Foreman grill and a soup/stewpot for my new apartment, but they said that wasn't my Christmas present. So your guess is as good as mine. I haven't asked for anything.

(EDIT: I wasn't clear on this when I posted, but one of my gifts was what CAUSED said attack. The attack itself wasn't the gift.)

I got a desk chair. Pissed my mom off too because I went out and bought a new desk chair and she had already gotten me one for christmas. I do that alot somehow.

She's fifty years old and bought a new one a couple of months ago so I'm guessing that cash would have been prefered.

But the thing I really enjoy about this xmas is the lack of BS I've had to deal with. Most of my family has acted like normal, sane adults and Im over joyed about that. Not having school, and family not being jerks, is one of the most wonderful things in the world.

I got to see ROTK, that is a great gift indeed. Merry Christmas PJ clause.

And yea, the pc isn't technically a gift, but it was one of those things that the lady was just like "if you really want nice pc, just get it" type of conversations.

Total price was $1550, from www.velocitymicro.com, basically the same type of "configure your pc" deal as alienware, but with much, much better prices (a similar pc at alienware like what I got would've been almost $2600), and the most amazing customer service ever.
