Myth Busters Marathon

Thursday, January first, New Years Day on the Discovery Channel, the new show, "Myth Busters" will be on all day during the Myth Busters marathon. It is an exciting new show starring two special effects wizzards who challenge the urban myths and legends they encounter using their unique skills. When challenging the myth of ice bullets ("Magic Bullet" theory) they wrote to the C.I.A., who told them that the freedom of information act did not require them to confirm or to deny the existance of such technology. ACCESS DENIED!!!!

They made bullets out of ice, jello frozen in liquid nitrogen, and meat bullets fashioned the same way (frozen w liq nitrogen) in the hopes that a coroner would not notice stray meat during an autopsy. They were unsuccessfull in making projectiles that could be used for distance, so the turned to an alternate method of assasination. The umbrella gun was made fameous when it was used to alter political events once, and the results of their experiment seemed to confirm that this is the best method of deployment for a small poisoned pellet, apparently the closest thing in the real world to a "magic bullet".

Facinating stuff!!! Watch, "Myth Busters" New Year's Day. Something to take your mind off of your hangover!! :lol:

I saw the one where they wanted to see if a cellphone could cause you to set your car on fire while pumping gas. They had that huge container filled with gas fumes and tried everything from static electricity to the cellphone to get it to go up. No luck, so eventually they just put an electric spark in there and let the thing go kaboom, and boy did it go up.

I think that cellphone one was cool. It proved that women are pampered morons who need to have their gas pumped for them. Who the hell gets in and out of the car while their gas is pumping? Wussies, that's who.

Twilight Zone Marathon > any other new year's marathon.

Thanks for the heads up; this show has quickly become one of my favorites. Always blowing shit up... can't go wrong with that!

Supposedly, there's about a 5% chance of a call on your phone causing a spark that could ignite fumes. Here in PR, it's illegal to use your phone in a gas station. You get fined $500 if you're caught.

I find it funny that they consider cel phones to be dangerous but have no problem with gas stations selling beer and hard liquor. :rolleyes:

I find it fitting considering that when driving, people are just as dangerous with a cell phone in their hand than a can of beer.

I agree. Beer and cell phones can be equally dangerous. The driver does not need distractions. A somewhat better choice is the device that hooks your phone up to your car stereo. Much less distracting with your hands and neck free of a cumbersome phone.
