I actually want a 3D one. I think it can be done cause despite the flaws, ONE on the psx was much more exciting than all the previous side scrollers. The last one that made me jump was Gunstar Heroes and that was awhile ago.

fuck that! Contra SS had it just right...I mean I must though, I do love them next gen 2D titles with 3D graphics (Contra, Klonoa, et al) a lot...a SS sequal would do well by me. One changed the dynamics too much just for the fact that you move in 3 dimensions. Keeping it on that 2 dimensional plane in SS made all the difference for me, because it played like Contra, which is why Contra is popular. If it evolved like One or something, then it would, to me, be too radically different to feel at all like Contra. SS actually felt like Contra with some nice 3D visuals.
Well, just as long as Appaloosa stays away from the series, then it's alright with me.
