Also, about your other controllers being worn out, do you mean some of the buttons are sticking? I had a B button that always seemed like it was pushed down, and I had to push it further to register a button press. Easy enough to fix, grab the controller grips really firmly, and twist them in opposite directions, like you were trying to open a jar or something. The buttons pop back into place and are as good as new.
Of course, if that's not your problem, heh, I don't know. But that advice saved me the however-much-a-new-controller-costs I was about to shell out to replace it.
