Review: Mario Kart: Double Dash!!

I still say that the GBA's Super Circuit is the best Mario Kart ever.

And I don't see why this one wins "by default." No decent battle arenas, mediocre track design, character specific items, and increased chaos retract from the overall experience.

The original had a better single-player game, a better battle mode and better tracks. The N64 game had a great battle mode. The GBA game had a great single-player game, a great battle mode, great tracks, PLUS everything from the original. Super Circuit wins.

The release of Double Dash should be viewed as a act of terrorism.

You didn't hear, Bush named Nintendo part of the Axis of Evil?

I love that game. it's simply amazing. The 1P mode, the Co-Op, the multiplayer.. great game.

P.D.: and SL1P... this is not a gimmick account, i'm real, and i'm mexican (i live in Mexico, not in the USA).

It wins by default because it is newer, prettier, and on a home console in a world where people seem to think portable gaming doesn't count, and that Super Circuit is a port, even though it isn't.

To this day, if I had a chance to rate SC, I'd give it higher marks than Double Dash, only because it is tighter in gameplay, and a more enjoyable one-player experience.

However, the thorn in Super Circuit's side is the fact that full-fledged multiplayer means multiple GBAs and copies of the game. For Double Dash, it's a matter of more controllers.

Oh, and Co-Op is ownage and the salvation of the game.

bah. I was going to add my two cents to the review via a second opinion. wish reno would've told me that this was going up on the weekend.

Co-op is the ONLY good thing about Double Dash. If you think about it, co-op can even make Conflict: Desert Storm fun, so that's not really saying much.

Back on topic... ain't C a bit harsh? How can someone not have fun with the multiplayer in this game? The single player, sure, was anti-fun, but wouldn't the game deserve more of a B- or so?

Double Dash has the worst multiplayer of them all. Co-op is fun, but it's also fun in every other game that supports it. Once you beat it, you'll never do co-op again anyway.

D+ at best.

That's what I meant, actually.
My friends and I can play co-op grand prix in multiplayer for hours on end. We like battle, too, though we mainly play co-op. I can definitely see where all the complaints come from, just not to the extent at which I've seen it. Ah, well.

Well the multiplayer levels are pretty bland and boring. Other then maybe the level with the warp pipes, everything else is pretty disappointing. But like everyone said higher, I think Super Circuit is the best one. Double Dash isnt best by default at all.
