The top 100 games of TNL *temporarily on hold*

Guwange should really be put on the list. It is an excellent game, easily on par with Silvergun and a contender with Ikaruga for my fovorite shooter. You can cut my others, but I'm defending Guwange till the end of this thread!

And we should represent at least one adventure game, Sam and Max or Indiana are both great choices.

Civ 3 mauled the most simple, intuitive game interface ever (in an empire sim no less). Beautiful interface. The first just-one-more-turn game I ever played (and still my fav). Fantastic tech tree. And the best empire sim of all time. With a splash of Wonder movies to keep things...spicy. And the Gold Edition has multiplayer? Winnar.

Bah! all rubbish is you ask me, although I seem to be the only person on the planet who prefers 3 over 2. I honestly don't mind waiting the few extra seconds for the comp to finish a move. As for the broken code I don't know what you're talking about (maybe they've fixed it throughout the patches & expansions and I just don't remember it). And sure taking out the wonders vids sucks but it's no reason to put it behind 2, really they'd of just updated (slightly) the ones from 2 since that what they did with the jump from 1 to 2. After going back and playing Civ 2 recently it's freakin ugly compared to 3 and I'm not the kind of person to hate on a game for looking dated.

Great new stuff in 3

-the territory borders finally being implemented

-way more civs and civ specific units added in

-There is multiplayer (with way more types of games and a better interface) for Civ3, you just have to get the Play the World expansion (or the new Conquests expansion, it includes PtW)

-Cultural, diplomatic, regicide, mass regicide & capture the princess victory modes

-Ah hell, there's more of everything and after spending 2000+ hours on the previous 2 games that's good for me.

I say you take everyone's 4 games (up to a certain date) and keep that list then from that (maybe) huge list make everyone chose a top 10 or 20 and use the point system to determine what needs to go.

Ignoring the terrible single player mode, I'd say Battlefield 1942 is one of the best online shooters ever. Definitely deserves a top 100 mention

It always turns into a horrible mess. Master did this idea one better with us where we -all- had to 100% agree on a single game. Still never happened :)

However, I paid so little attention to the last TNL 100 list that I didn't realize RS slipped on there. Obviously, I've got my work cut out for me this time.

This could be done a lot easier, if you had everyone list thier own personal top 10 or 20 lists. Every time a game makes it onto somebody's list, it gets a vote. The top 5 games on one person's list are worth 2 votes. The bottom 5 games on thier list are worth one vote. Talley up the points to determine your top 100 list.


Example:

Gamer B's top 10 list goes like this-

3 Zelda (2 Votes)
4 Duke Nukem (2 Votes)
5 Ecco (2 Votes)
6 Conker (1 Vote)
7 Laura Croft (1 Vote)

10 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (1 Vote)

It can't turn into a mess if we use a voting system. I think the sort of system I mentioned is the one that magazines use when they try to get all of their editors to concur on one top-100 CDs of 2003 (or whatever).

Top 4, top 10, whatever, just need to decide how many choices to give people.
