starting to play guitar seriously
I got a copy of Guitar World for the plane flight and as I was reading it it might as well be in Greek. I guess its not unlike when you start playing videogames for the first time, and you pick up a copy of NextGen or EGM or whatever and all the terminology is baffling.
So I figured I would look online for some help on the basic terminology, how shit connects to each other, etc, and I find shit like this:
"What is an effects loop?
Effects loops give you the opportunity to plug effects between the preamp and the power amp. This is best for modulation (phaser, flanger, chorus, pitsh shifting) and delay effects because it allows them to effect the distorted signal as opposed to the preamp distorting them. It also runs a line-level signal, instead of instrument, which works better with most rack mount effects. (Distortions and boosters, etc, usually work better going straight into the guiatr input where they can affect the preamp gain) "
huh?
Does anyone know a good site that can give me the basics on all that type of stuff, or a good book, whatever? Im basically starting from scratch here.
