Yes, That is true. It does load for quite a bit, between rooms, and cut scene events.
Controls are Analog this time, so dont expect usual RE like turn and move scheme. It confused me for a bit. I only had time to play around with two characters so far, Kevin and David. Both can get a gun at the beginning, and later on collect more ammo, and few hand weapons to help fight off the zombies. The cpu controlled characters can be very annoying, running around all the time, and since I am used more to the single character adventure settings of previous RE games, it annoys and confuses me. I need to learn how to interact and trade with them right, since they can grab and carry items that you might need. They havent been very helpfull when I get attacked, once in a while they would try to rescue you, but most of the time they run in and out of the rooms, spotting quotes.
Hand weapons are cool to use, but break too easily. Steel pipe is not the steel pipe we all come to love in Silent Hill. After few bumps to zombies heads, it becomes a mighty bent pipe
Since most of the characters are not skilled fighters and firearm users, their aiming and firing skills can pretty much suck. It makes fighting and shooting zombies more of the challenge than usual.
The game itself looks nice. Not as nice as Cube RE games, but very good for PS2 standards. Nice and gory opening CGI movie. As usual Capcom does well there.
Crows are pain in the ass, since its hard to aim right, especially with characters slow responses. I got pecked and clawed alot :(
One thing I hate is a friggin Timer event. I got pretty far in the scenario and then the even kicked in. My character at the time was very injured so he was moving with the snail speed. So by the time I was finally able to reach the 1st floor of the next building, the timer ran out. And bam. Game Over. For NO APPARENT REASON. I just died. Sucks.
After each game you collect points, that can be used to buy art in the gallery, CGI Movies, New Costumes and other things. Should be interesting to get these in the long run.
And I forgot to mention: There are no pause in the game. When you go into inventory/ map screen, the action doesnt stop. Reloading doesnt happen right away either, so you are open to enemy attacks, if you try to do that with monsters nearby.
Nice impressions, Despair. I am going to try to beginning-to-end the single player mode tonight, so I will follow-up with my impressions tomorrow.
I really like the beta, which consisted of the first 2 scenarios, so I can't wait to pick up the retail version. Probably on Friday when I get paid, unless I can't resist the lure of Wario Ware.
Great impressions, Despair. It sounds like typical RE fun but with some spice to keep things fresh. Are the scenarios long? I wouldn't mind if they weren't as there seems to be a lot of them and the HDD could be used for DL content.
CAPCOM: LISTEN TO ME!
HDD + BB connection = easy DL content! :)
Ok, Spent more time with it tonight, and finished Outbreak scenario. Got used to the way it controls, even though Analog and slow turning with it still bugs me. You can also use Dpad for the usual RE control, so at least that is familiar.
You use Right analog stick to give other characters different set of commands, but I usually leave most of them behind, or they ran off by themselves.
Action bits are more akward than in other RE. It somewhat hard to aim right, and characters react much slower, than some of the zombies, which can unexpectedly rush and punch you. And if they trap you near the wall, or the corner, and you happen to be turned the other way, good luck getting out alive. Happened to me, almost at the end of first scenario, where they almost killed me, just because the dumbass Kevin didnt want to turn right.
None of the other characters made it to the end with me, and when I triggered the final event, i was barely alive. Limping between horde of zombies, in mad rush to reach the detonator controls, before the zombies grab me. I barely made it too. One more bite would have killed me :)
Got more points after finishing, and bought 2 cgi movies from the collection. I guess you will have to play alot of Outbreak, to be able to get all the collectibles.
You can find couple of typewriters along the way, and this time around you dont need ribbons to be able to save. But catch is, you can only save once, and the game takes you out to the main menu, and that save is deleted after you loan the game later on. I dont like this much :(
I was told of this and it sounded stupid.Quote:

"it has been confirmed that at least one of them will take place in a deserted zoo where the animals have been infected by the T-Virus. Elephants, tigers, and other such mighty beasts are just a few of the critters that players will be exposed to"
if its a deserted zoo why are there animals in it!?
I'm gonna play in like 5-10 minutes. Anyone with me?
UPDATE:
I tried to get online 3 times last night, and I failed each time.
