WHile I hate first 2 on your list, I though both Waterworld and Ghosts of Mars were decent flicks. Not masterpieces, or great cinema, but ok as far action/adventure genre goes.
I liked LXG, but many here didnt. XXX was ok action flick as well.
I can't stand anything with Vin Diesel in it. The man cannot act to save his goddamn life. He acts in every movie he's ever made like Arnold did in Hercules in New York.
The One
Ferris Bueller's Day Off
Underworld
and some others I can't think of right now.
No way, everyone loves that movie.Quote:

That's actually a decent point, I completely forgot he was in that.
He was also the voice of that huge Robot. Props for that, I guess.
Yeah, he was the Iron Giant, but anyone could have done that.
Off the top of my head, The One and Matrix Reloaded.
I need to add another vote to The One and Dude Where Is My car.
my list is...
every vin diesel movie
every van damme movie
the one
jason x
matrix reloaded
matrix revolution
double take
the list would become too long.
He CAN act. It's just that working in artsy films like Saving Private Ryan (well... not really artsy but superly well-directed flicks) pay a lot less than the Hollywood Summer hits he's usually in. Vin Diesels main goal is to actual begin a video game company and make videogames.Quote:

So I don't think it will be Enter the Matrix part deux.
Anyway, I respect the guy. I don't like most of his movies, but they're mindlessly good action ones.
i also like cheesy movies, like
Drumline
maid in manhattan
various disney channel movies
Godfather III. Sure it wasn't as good as the first two, but it still was worthwhile. Maybe it's because I saw all three films relatively close to each other instead of the 16 or so years between 2 and 3 were made.
Edit: Oh yeah, Matrix Revolutions wasn't so bad either IMO.
Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within.
I think I am the only proud owner of that DVD in the United States.
Me too. Spirits Within was decent.
Nash mentioned Van Damme, so I will have to speak for Double Team and Knock Off. Both are fun, and stupid action flicks, that everyone seem to hate, except me and Ssbomberman here :p
Seagal's Exit Wounds was also fun to see. Plus Cradle 2 the Grave.
Exactly what I was going to say. I also though Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within was pretty entertaining.Quote:

Deep Rising
Ghostbusters 2
There are few more, but I can't remember.
Dark City
Contact (one of my top 5 favorite movies ever, most seem to gag when thinking about it)
Conan the Barbarian (lets face it, not many consider this a fine film like I do)
Finding Forester (You're the man now dog!)
The last two Matrix movies (no where near as good as the first but I still maintain that they're better than SW)
Hackers (look. It's fun. It's a fun movie)
Mars Attacks
Meet Joe Black
Oh christ, Sexy Beast? I hate that damn movie. I couldn't get into that movie at all. I hated all the characters and it was so damn boring.Quote:

Ben Kingsley single-handedly made that film. I didn't think it was boring, in fact I loved the story.Quote:

Didnt it come out a few years after Independance Day?
I'm with those against this movie (though I think it is fairly popular). The way Sexy Beast just completely flatlines when Ben Kingsley is off-screen is astounding (haven't seen anything like it since Beetlejuice, where all the non-Michael Keaton scenes are so bleechh).Quote:

I work in I.T and the hacking part didnt bother me at all, it was more entertaining then staring at the root prompt of a unix box entry point.
My picks:
The Postman
Battlefield Earth
Body Slam
Santa With Muscles
Hackers is really funny now when you listen to the equipment that they run off. Shit that was cutting edge when the movie came it are all relics now. "Wow! A 386!" "With 8 megs of RAM and a 2800 baud modem!" *whistles* "Wow!"
Ghost Dog

Yea, I dont know a single person who doesnt think Dumb and Dumber is the bomb... the scene where Jim Carrey rips out the chef's heart is seriously the funniest thing ever.
Zoolander is okay, if you ask me, its just not a cutting commentary on the fashion industry (which I hate), its just kinda stupid. I just give it props for the "MER... MAN!" section and the fact the coal mines are in New Jersey. And the walk-off scene is pretty good too. But I hate Will Ferrell, so every scene with his (over-)acting is awful.
I love all the Scream Movies, Halloween Movies even part 3,
and the Nightmare on Elm Street Movies. I loved Blair Witch 2,
scarier than the first.
Did you notice that even though she was the only decent piece of ass, she was the only hooker that didn't get banged?Quote:

I didn't know that everyone hated:
Dumb & Dumber
The Shanghai movies (but if so, those are on my list, too)
Is there anyone who DOESN'T like the Fifth Element? I mean, that movie is so wacky and out of control and my MOM likes it. And she HATES wacky films. She represents critics and general opinion of movies, as far as I've seen. The Fifth Element is so good, I can watch it any day, any time. If we're undecided about what movie to sit down and watch, and someone asks, "How about the Fifth Element?" there's no argument: we watch it, no questions of insecurity of the choice. I can't say that about any other movie(s), even the LotR ones.
It could quite possibly be the best movie ever made, from what I've experienced. I'd like to hear otherwise.
I hate the Fifth Element with a goddamn passion. It starts off alright, but quickly degenerates into retarded bullshit.
I'm also not a huge Zoolander fan, but apparently everyone in the world is. It keeps coming up in conversation lately.

I never saw it, sadly. But the game was cool.
Hackers
Waterworld
Dude Where's my Car
Jason X
Contact
Heavy Metal 2000
Resident Evil
A Knight's Tale
Any Ultra Cheesy 70's Kung Fu flick, the weirder (& worse voice acting) the better.
Add a few more:
Resident evil
Brotherhood of the wolf
Kiss of the Dragon
Star Trek: Nemesis
Star Trek: Insurrection
Dreamcatcher
Sphere
Contact
Predator 2
The Relic
The Ghost And The Darkness
Every ADULT ive talked to loved The Ghost and the Darkness..
Thank you.Quote:

The movie dummies down the whole story of the space ship and really takes away from what could have been a great story.
I really liked Heavy Metal (Not Heavy Metal 2000). The movie is full of one liners and is quite enjoyable, for anyone who grew up in the Heavy Metal age of rock.
Johnny Darko: The story takes an interesting look at death and how it can affect the lives of those around the person who is supposed to die. A refreshing peice of film making.
They Live: Starring Rowdy Roddy Piper. This has to be the one and only film, featuring a wrestling star, that I actually enjoyed. I highly recommend a rental of this flick. If you liked that alien film with Emilio Estavez, you'll probably like this film even more.
Johnny Darko is a popular movie. It has a huge cult following.

Everyone I know hates these movies, but i could watch them 500 times and still not get sick of them for some reason.
Twister - tornadoes rule
Gattica - one of my favs
Hulk - its all about the transitions
Congo - book was way better, but i still like it.
Finding Forester - another one of my favs
i kinda like all three of those movies. Bring It On for the car wash scene mainly. Spice Girls for the Spice Girls. and Street Fighter because it was laughably bad in that good way. and also because they ended the movie with everyone doing their win poses.Quote:

The One - Jet Li in an Elvis haircut : GENIUS!
Romeo Must Die - Fight scenes were cool
Exit Wounds - All about style.
Titanic - Jack, Jack! (glub glub) - seeing Leo die is fun.
Gangs of New York - don't know if anyone hated it. I actually loved it.
Lost In Space - Heather Graham in leather ... rowr.
Super Ninjas - The flick was awesome.
The Flying Guillatine - I think thats how you spell it, funny flick.
Vertical Limit - wow. That movie backed up my fear of heights.
LXG - Sean Connery ... nuff said.
Lilo and Stich, Ice Age, Monsters Inc., and Emperors New Clothes - ALL four were hilarious.
I think thats it.
The thread title is "movies you liked that everyone hates." Lilo and Stitch, Ice Age and Monsters Inc. all did really well at the box office and are generally really popular movies. I don't remember how ENC was recieved, but I remember seeing it and liking it. It was like an hour and 5 minutes long.
I just thought of one. Surf Ninjas. I saw it when I was 11 or so and loved it. Whenever it's on tv I watch it.
Anyone who doesn't like these movies has no soul. Especially Emperors New Groove.Quote:

zoolander - people don't get why its funny. Its the lines that people forget which are the funniest.
dark city - I can't believe this movie gets heat.
the fifth element - a great fun movie. plus milla.
shanghai noon/nights - I love Owen Wilson.
santa with muscles - props to jeremy for knowing of this movie.

Grossed $37 million in the US
My guess is that it cost more than that just to grease up Brad Pitt before the fight scenes.

It actually opened and did okay at the box office. The reason it failed was because Brad Pit refused to reduce his asking price of like $20 million or something like that (may have been 10) for the movie. I saw a whole show on movie producers and how they're only as good as their last hit.Quote:

Oh and the marketting sucked, too. But if he had reduced down to like 5 million the movie could've made some gross.
Bill Mechanic, he was the CEO of FOX film between 1996-2000. Rupert Murdoch fired him after the compounding failures of "Fight Club" and "Titan A.E" which he championed. He also championed "Romeo + Juliet"... while Murdoch wanted the "script" to be re-written in modern English... He greenlighted every Fox movie within his reign... this includes Titanic.Quote:
